Remarks

The admission process was very smooth at Gargi College. Administrators asked for few documents and verified all the details and granted me admission. The minimum marks criteria were around 80% in the 12th board examination. Class 10th and 12th mark sheets were the two documents required for verification. After paying the total fee of a year, a confirmation mail was sent to me and the admission process was done. I received a letter also stating the date of commencement of classes.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I had few subjects like zoology, life science and botany in my mind, I applied for all three subjects and fortunately my percentage matched with that of Gargi college's cutoff. So I chose life science. The faculty: student ratio is 1:45. Having fewer students in a section makes things run smoothly and effectively. The teachers are highly qualified and experienced. Most of them have done PhD and are well versed in teaching. They always use presentations to explain difficult topics so that students could have a stronghold on the subject. It's not hard to secure passing marks in semester exams. If one is a hardworking person, she will definitely secure sgpa above 9 out of 10. Exams are taken regularly. Gargi is really stable when it's come to exams. We have two semesters in a year and so two exams.

Internships Opportunities

4.5

So from the first year, only one can grab numerous internship opportunities. This includes both NGOs and companies, sometimes one might get paid as well. Internships can fetch you certificates, LOR and experience and skill. NGOs offer the role of the data handler, marketing head etc while commercial companies offer the role of HR, sales manager etc. They even pay 5k - 10k per month.

Placement Experience

4.5

Yes, the college provides placement in companies like Wipro, coco cola, Paytm, snapdeal, but commerce students are more interested in getting placement. Being a science student I was more determined towards my further studies. And gargi doesn't provide placements in a chemical company or biological company. My friend got placement with package 8 lakhs per year. There is no such criteria for getting placement. One should have good communication skill, that is enough.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee for the science steam student is different from humanities and commerce students. The total fee is 24,915 including the lab fee. No extra fee is charged. There is no fee hike policy. Paying annually 8300 is not something that I can't afford. It was affordable. But due to the college location, the pg and hostel charges are much high. They charge 14k - 20k monthly. So for an outsider, it will be really costly. I didn't get any scholarship or campus job with a stipend, so can't tell much.

Campus Life

4.5

Gargi's annual fest is Reverie, lasts for three days and always conducted in February. Last year jubin nautiyal was the celebrity performer. Many actors and actresses always come to promote their movies, this includes Varun, shraddha, ayushman, parineeti and others. The classrooms are really spacious and airy. Gargi's infrastructure is among the top 10 colleges of Delhi University. Labs and classrooms are highly maintained including ACs. Wi-fi is available through the connection is always poor. There is a separate sports complex for the college students including a gym. There is a table tennis court, volleyball court and many more. If one is a sports person, her favourite place will be the sports complex. There are several societies clubs and social organisations. This includes dance society, theatre, debating society, NSS, NCC and many more.

I will rate 10 out of 7 to this course curriculum because in this course the experiment and lab works is too low as compare to another courses like biomedical science, bsc zoology and many more. But it's ok I'm happy with this course.

Students become eligible for placements on the 3rd year, we have decent placement opportunities but not the best, highest package is around 15 lakhs. Companies that visit are Bain and Co., Urban Clap etc. average package is around 5 lakhs. My plans after getting the degree are getting into a master's programme and pursuing research.
