Remarks
Usually, the admission is based on the ranks of Cusat CAT exam. Due to the covid situation, CAT exam was canceled in 2020. So the ranks were given to students who applied for CAT exam on the basis of their 12th marks. I got a rank of 1710 and was admitted to the School of Engineering, Thrikkakara in the second allotment of the admission process. I had applied for several other colleges in Kerala, but Cusat was better than them. So I chose to join Cusat.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose Electrical and Electronics Engineering because I had an interest in that field. The student: faculty ratio is well balanced. There are enough teachers in the college. All the faculties are well qualified and the teaching method is very good. Due to the covid situation term exams were postponed to a few months but they were all conducted.
Internships Opportunities
There are many internship opportunities associated with the colleges. Some of the companies that offer internships include CEAT, TCS, Reliance, E&Y etc. Internships are usually for a period of 2 months.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for placements from the 7th semester. There are several companies that visit the campus. The highest package received in the year 2020 was 23 LPA. The average package is around 4-6 LPA.
Fees and Financial Aid
We have two types of seats in the college- All India merit and State merit. The fee in State merit is quite low (around 47,000 per year). In All India merit, the fee is around 87,000 per year. There was no fee hike in the last few years. There are several scholarships that students can apply, some of which are provided by the college and the Kerala government.
Campus Life
The annual tech fest DHISHNA is conducted every year in a very vibrant way. There are several programmes on it. Every student attends with enthusiasm. All the required books for the students are available in the library for a small fee. Students can take books for a certain period of time and return it back. The college is active in sports and extracurricular activities. There are selection trials for each team every year. The college team has won many prizes in Cricket, Football, Volleyball competitions. The college has many clubs that are run by students, which enable the active participation of its members. There is an internationally recognized club HORIZON, which is a group of UG students who make Mars Rover and compete in different events around the globe. It has achieved 32nd rank worldwide in the European Rover Challenge 2020. Also, Horizon had 3rd position in India by ERC ranks. There are other space clubs, IGBC, IEEE, etc. which are very active on the campus.
