About NIT Durgapur

I chose NIT Durgapur, because a cousin of mine graduated from the college an year before I took admission in the college. His reviews about the college were pretty good. I applied to colleges abroad, like UW Madison, ASU, etc., but I preferred a college within India to get the exposure I needed, having been brought up abroad. I had other colleges like MNNIT Allahabad, NIT Rourkela, NIT Warangal, Surathkal, Trichy over NIT Durgapur. I couldn't get into them because of my rank. No regrets joining NIT Durgapur though, love my college <3. My admission process was a bit unconventional, instead of being allotted seats in the Josaa Portal, I had to register through the DASA portal. DASA is a scheme introduced for NRI students and students of other nationalities. We had to give JEE like the rest of the students, but had a separate rank list generated for all the students of DASA. Pretty smooth process....Read More

I had apply for National Institute of Technology, jamsedpur but i had choosen this college over it because of it's nirf ranking which was good from that college and i had researched that core electrical was good from that college. I want to go for nit jaipur but my jee mains rank was 20k and nit jaipur electrical seat was closed around 18k so i didn't make it there. Jossa counselling was medium between me and my college admission they fixed my seat .eligibility criteria for electrical engineering branch was around 22k for other state and 27k for home state for open category. With the jee main score, I apply for josaa councelling. I which I got chemical engineering nit durgapur, it is very good college. I choose this college because of its infrastructure, west bengal culture, placement of chemical engineering which is very good. I also applied for nit jaipur and allahabad but for God sake I got nit durgapur which is also a top college. On the very first day, during admission process, we have to complete our documents with us, then I go to the office to check my documents by the invigilator. Then I went to the hall, which is allotted to me that is hall 11. Then go there, book my room which is on first floor. If I go late then I got room for top floors. Entrance exam-JEE MAINS Counseling procedure via JOSAA or CSAB. JEE Mains is conducted twice in a year with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as subjects.Time duration for jee mains is 3 hours and test is conducted in CBT mode with MCQs and Numerical value type questions.The total marks for jee mains is 300.The application for Jee Mains 2024 can be found in their official website ( https://jeemain.nta.ac.in/ ) and the application fees is 1000 for each session (General Category).
