Remarks

I feel college management/faculty is very slightly bias towards kerala/south Indian students, however it is in very much acceptable range. Management needs to encourage sports outside campus premises for premium national/international events which was not the case during my tenure. I think college management should put more efforts towards Brand building and attracting more companies with better pay package/ Job Profile.

Entrance Preview

I wrote MPPET. I scored 749 out of 900 was ranked 41 in CG (MP, CG bifurcation happened which got reflected in separate merit list for both states) . I wanted to study in top colleges of south with either ECE, CSE or EEE as I was not interested in Mech. I got EEE in NITC, which was what I was aiming for.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

I will say one the best in country. You can choose electives from core or CSE streams. My mentor has given me funding for project which we were working on. Sea of journals and book are available, fully facilitated labs are present if you want to do anything of our own.

Internships Opportunities

I have not heard anyone getting any internship i completed my degree in 2005 and a lot would have changed now.

Placement Experience

4.5

I will say almost 100% placement happens with many getting multiple offers but given the quality of students, faculty and infrastructure I will say company do not do justice with NITC's students while providing offers. I heard that things improved a lot for my juniors but during my time I felt placements were not up-to the mark. Most of us got around 3 LPA with companies like IBM, Oracle, Texas Instruments, DRDO, TCS, Infosys, Wipro, ABB, Analog Devices, Capgemini, trilogy, L&T etc. coming for placements.

College Events

4.5

Ragam: It is the inter-college festival organised annually here. It combines a series of fine-arts, socio-cultural and literary events, along with a variety of workshops, exhibitions and informal events. The fest attracts thousands of visitors to the campus annually, and is one of the biggest cultural fests in India. Tathva: It is an techno-management festival organised annually. In more than 40 events, it attracts about 8,000 students. The event hosts paper presentations, lectures, seminars, exhibitions, workshops, quizzes, competitions, model displays and robotics events. Popular extra curricular activities include O-INSA, National Cadet Corps (NCC), Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), National Service Scheme (NSS), Inter-NIT sports.

Fee Structure And Facilities

One has to pay only around 15K fee which has to be paid in 2 installments (1 for each semester) so quite cheap compare to other colleges of India. Hostel charges are also very cheap close to 500 per month including electricity, water charges. Food charges are approx 900 per month. Quality education at Very cheap fee.

Fees and Financial Aid

I have not availed anything and do not have much idea on this personally however my friend got 100% scholarship from state government I believe.

Campus Life

5

Gender ratio is highly skewed towards boys something like 8:1, being girl guarantee you of princess/special treatment. You will see people from all over India so excellent diversity is guaranteed. Probably great academics is only one common thing as each of the students are master of some other skills like JAM, GK, Chess, Movie, Singing, Drama, Cricket, TT, Body Building, religious knowledge etc etc. even "Aam lootna" in typical village style. Most of the days there will be lot of parallel things will be going on and you being human can not participate in all. You have to decide what is your interest and participate in events of your choice be it technical, cultural, sports, research etc etc, One will get all the options here.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

One has to share the room with 3 others in 1st and 2nd year. Independent rooms are available from 3rd year onwards. One has to be lucky to get single/double/triple sharing room in 2nd year. One will get internet at rooms in final year. Each hostel has its mess where different style of food will be offered like South Indian Veg, South Indian Non Veg, North Indian Veg, North Indian Non Veg etc etc. Students can join any mess of their choice. One will get 4 meals (BF, Lunch, snacks, Dinner). Canteen, mini canteen etc are also there. Mini canteen will be open till 2 AM. You can get food in Catangal till 4 AM. Hostel facilities are good and very cheap.

Alumni/Alumna

You will get outstanding Senior and Alumni here for lifetime. They share everything what you needs their exp, books, copy, pencil, music system, CV etc etc. They motivate you during your down time and act like family. All of them have great ideas which you can access before choosing your career path.

Exam Structure

Semester system was followed for main exam, with 2/3 tests for each subject in between to decide sessional marks along with home based assignments. I will say it was not that hectic you get enough time for other activities. The good part of exam was all 6 papers will be continuous unless there is weekend/national holiday so you get good break between semesters.

Faculty

4

One will find many PHD holders, Few M.Tech/B.Tech degree holders. I will say some of them were outstanding with great practical knowledge, However very few of them were pretty ordinary specially with only B.Tech holder/new teachers working on adhoc basis with slight favoritism towards Kerala/ South India students which sometime hurts.

The campus placements are decent. getting placed in a big company is more about having the technical and soft skills to pass the interviews. the placement training helps us develop soft skills but the technical skills must be developed ourselves.

Students in 7th and 8th semester are eligible to sit for campus placements. Companies like Oracle, Goldman Sachs, L&T, Bajaj, Caterpillar and PSU's like BEL,HPCL and BPCL come to the college usually the coding companies offer aroung 35-40 LPA CTC and the core PSU companies offer around 17-18 LPA. Highest Package is 51 LPA and an Average Package of 12 LPA. Nearly 85% students from Circuit and CS branch get placed and around 60% in core branches who sit for placements, My plans after getting the degree is to join MBA to learn how business world works and how the money flows
