Course Curriculum Overview

3

The civil engineering curriculum is not really an updated curriculum when compared to other technical courses. Most of the curriculum still follows the old methods and teachings. Each six month semester is complete within three or four months, so each month, there will be a series exam, that is, a total of two exam before semester exam.

Internships Opportunities

4

Many companies, visit our college for internships and with the job offers. being a first year, I have not much of an idea about internship opportunity available in my college. I have seen postgraduate students in our college doing internships and programmes in our college.

Placement Experience

2

Civil engineering is a course with least placement in every engineering colleges. Students are placed during their fourth year in college. Sobha Constructions Ltd is one of the main companies that visits college. 200000rupees package is the average package offered. Les than 25 percent civil engineers get placed. I plan to prepare for GATE exam and pursue more in this course.

Fees and Financial Aid

The detailed fee structure in this college is given in the following paragraph. I have to pay an tution fee of 7900 in each semester. There's a total of eight semesters. The SC/ST students don't have to pay any fees. The college made a compulsory payment of 10000 rupees from every student which includes lab fees, bus fees and many such fees. There are many scholarships available for students of different categories. The scholarships are of different types like government and alumni scholarships. Some scholarships provide more than 50000 rupees in one year. Examples of some scholarships are Pragathi, SAFE, Yashaswi, Post-metric and so on.

Campus Life

5

Dyuthi is the technical festival in the college. It is usually held every two years. It is a multi level national fest which spans for a total of 3 days. There are many other big and small fests happening in the campus. The liberty of the college has a vast collection of books of different genres. The library being a part of technical institute not only has technological books but also literature. Free drinking water is provided in the each department. Sports and activities are also encouraged with a huge ground and playing equipments. Gymnasium is also available . There are many student run clubs like Film Society, Chess and so on.

Hostel Facilities

4

Every room provides bed and table for each student. Also cupboards are available for each hosteller. the quality of meal is quite good and is also cheap. the hostel is provided to students by allotment process. The hostel is cheap and affordable compare to homestays.

Admission

I didn't really choose this college, particularly over some other college. I chose this college because it had a good ranking and also it is quite closer to my place compared to to other colleges I also discussed with a friend of mine who studies in TKM College of engineering Kollam. She recommended this college over her college. Also, I had this college is ragging free and had a friendly campus. I wrote KEAM Kerala Engineering Entrance Exam and qualified for applying to colleges for engineering. Then I applied at this college for this course.

Faculty

4

The ratio is quite okay. Most faculties are nice and approachable. There's a total of 8 semesters and each semester has two series exams and one semester exam. The exams are okay even though sometimes it tend to be difficult. The curriculum of civil engineering is not really an updated one when compared to other departments.

Night Life

5

Gymnasium is available with many equipments which closes at 7pm. College canteen closes at 5 PM. The library closes at 5 PM. The college campus is 24 hour open. Inside the college. There are many hangout places in front of every department. in front of Civil department, there is a Civil tree and also some sitting provided by seniors and alumni. Also there is a union bench near the ground of the college. Also students hang out at the basketball court, football court, and gallery of the ground. The men's hostel is 24 hour curfew free. the ladies hostel has a curfew at 9:30 PM.
