Course Curriculum Overview

5

The subjects taught in the first year. They really made the difference for me. They are teaching DSA in the first year itself. They also give us real-world projects in every semester. Some of the courses dont even have end sems, they are project based. The curriculum level should stay the same. Just that with time it also needs to be updated like they did with us. The internal exams though are on the easier side whilst the end semester are a bit tough. Its easy to pass but its very difficult to maintain 9CGPA in amrita, well atleast in Computing streams.

Internships Opportunities

4

Internship experiences is something i dont have. But from the seniors it looks as though they have good opportunities for people who have good CGPA that is 9+. Its available from 2nd year though. Projects are given in every semester which we can add in our resumes. The projects are really useful for learning.

Placement Experience

5

The placement here is top notch. This year in my campus the highest CTC offered was 56.5lpa by PALOALTO. Placements process is centralised at coimbatore though. Students are eligible for campus placements from third year or s5. Average package in computing department ranges from 10-12lpa. My plans after degree is to pursue MS: opportunities of which are provided by the college itself. In computing department almost 90% of the students have been placed according to the seniors I talked to. However it is lower in other streams.

Fees and Financial Aid

I am currently pursuing btech in CSE(AI) in amrita under slab 2 category of scholarship. There are currently 3 slabs of scholarship: slab1- 150000 slab2- 275000 slab3- 400000 and non scholarship- 600000 Scholarship slabs are decided based on ranks in JEE MAINS and AEEE score. Other costs includes caution money which is around 10k for college and 10k for hostel. Also for foreign students the tuition fee is fully waivered. They only have to pay hostel and mess fees which amount to almost 75000 per year.

Campus Life

4

The clubs here are top notch. amFOSS,bi0s are some standout performing clubs alongside ACM students chapter. ASME is also a club for mechanical peeps. Social service clubs for youth such as AYUDH is also active. They are highly successful in their campaigns across south india. Sports facilities are basically useless until you miss classes to play. The time table is stacked mostly. Football is preferred by malayalis and some guys dont do any class to play. Thats why the coaches often tell you that if you dont miss classes you are out. Badminton court is the best place to take out your frustrations. Also they must increase sports facilities. Library also has a wide range of books and journals. Each classrooms is equipped with modern technologies and teachers use them daily.

Hostel Facilities

3

The room has 1 bed and 1 study table per person. In first year you need to share a room with 2other person. From second year it will be 4in a room. They dont give out single rooms in the name of sharing is caring. Mess food is the worst thing you have to eat in your entire lifetime. Its like real bad. PGs are there but its not much preferred for non locals.

Admission

Basically like everyone I also gave JEE but didnt manage to land a NIT or an IIT. After that among private colleges amrita seemed the best choice for me. Based on the ROI for me it atleast looked best option. AEEE rank cutoff for cse(ai) in slab 2 for all india is at 3.5k rank. Whereas for the first slab its 1.5k and 7k for third slab. I applied for VIT also but didnt go there despite securing a seat because of the huge crowd there. For jee mains cutoff for slab2 is 95-97 %ile whereas for first slab it is 98+ and for 3rd slab its clearing the cutoff basically.

Faculty

5

Every class has around 60people in it. Compared to other colleges the amout of people is very low in this college. The faculty to student ratio is 1:60. In lab times its 1:20. The lab faculties are also good. Among the faculties Ms Geetha M is a standout faculty. Being the chairperson she is also very helpful at times. All other faculties are also nice personally. Every sem has 2 type of exams one end sem and other internal exams. The internal exams are easy to moderate whilst the end sems are on the tougher side. In each department there are atleast 5people who get back papers. The curriculum is extremely relevant in todays time. It even exceeds the industry standards.

Night Life

3

Gym is overcrowded. The cafeterias are trash. They sell better chips than coffee or tea. The vendors dont understand anything also. There is no night life at all seriously. These guys dont even know what is enjoyment. Only thing they know is to lead life in a strict routine. Hostel in timings are 9pm and you can go out at 5am. Like this is crazy. Who gets up at 5 in college. These people wont let you switch on your light after 11pm as if it costs 1000rupees per minute. The locality is safe unless you argue with malayalis. Like they're a bit less welcoming.

Other Applied Colleges

Vellore Institute of Technology - [VIT University] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)

Crowd at this college is huge. Hence did not feel confident enough to join.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is the worst. Teachers rush through the portions so that they can finish at the earliest. It may be because the university has a unjustifiable timetable. There is very little practicals given. The ones that are given are just for namesake.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is under KTU syllubus do it's fine. There is a change in curriculum coming 2024 which i assume would make a lot of good changes. The curriculum gives you a head start For most of your work, you need to on your own but the faculty is there to help. The frequency of exams is weekly tests + monthly exams. Its not too difficult of an exam.

Currently placements are bit low, due to inflation, but compared to other colleges like KMEA, etc we have better placements similar to Muthoot and all. We have placement training, and other supports which can help us crack aptitude exams and prepare for placements Almost 70-80% students are placed every year, with an avg package of 4LPA

Placement Experience:

The students usually start appearing for campus placements in their 6th semester. The training for the campus placements is started for all the students from the 4th semester. Many companies visited for campus placements. But one main problem is that most of them were low packages. Around 4LPA. Some were between 4-6 and a very few between 6-10. Most of them got placed in our batch in some company.
