Remarks

I chose PGDAV(M) College because of it's highly reputable Mathematics faculty. But the College atmosphere and infrastructure is not as pleasing as the faculty. There are severe network issues in the new wing, and medical and hygiene facilities are poor. College admits students based on cutoff(s) released by Delhi University in the month of July. The admission committee of the college manages the process very smoothly and the students don't have to wait for hours or rush here and there for due formalities. PGDAV is mainly known for it's faculty (and the canteen as well, which is the biggest canteen among all DU Colleges). I, or anyone should opt for this college due to it's well-experienced faculty in every department. The teachers are highly qualified and supportive of the students. I browsed and researched through Collegedunia to select tjis college.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course curriculum of B.Sc. (H) Mathematics is very fine. It prepares the students for further studies in the field of mathematics, computation, engineering, applications of math, actuarial, etc. I chose this course because I want to study pure mathematics in depth. The faculty to student ratio of the college is about 1:40. There are roughly 5 subjects in each semester and around 7 professors in total (including lab faculty) for every semester. The faculty is highly qualified, with most of them being PHD holders with a solid background in research and teaching. The term exams are conducted in the months of December and May. Being regularly thorough with the concepts and practicing questions based on previous year papers helps in having a clear image of what the paper would look like. It is not easy to pass the exam without regular studies and a good hold of the concepts. The difficulty level is average to difficult.

Internships Opportunities

4

The placement cell of our college is active throughout the year. Most of the roles offered to revolve around marketing, sales, management, content writing, copywriting and graphic designing, data analyst, and research analyst. Here are some of the companies that offered internships over the past year- Open Sense Labs, RSBG Business Consultant, Feedough, Moodagent, Awign, Digipplus, Skillgenic Academy, Reliance Jio, Netomi, Panamera Design, Airtel, Zomato, Phonepe, Houseitt, Coho. The stipend provided by the companies can range anywhere from performance-based to 20,000/-

Placement Experience

2

Students become eligible for campus placements in their sixth semester. The placement cell of PGDAV(M) is well reputed and around 60-70 companies visit our college for placements every year but there is not much available for students in Mathematics Hons. The average package offered to students of this course is 3lpa. The percentage of students getting placement after three years is less than 10. Most of the students opt for this course as the basics for higher studies. I too will be giving entrance exams for master after this course.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees and expenditure in this course are minimal. The course is a 3-year program. Following is the approximate fee break-up of every year- Annual fee: 14,000/- Examination fee: 200-400/- The fee charged by the college are according to the guidelines set by Delhi University for all its colleges. The College also has the provision of EWS criteria for admission if the student belongs to the economically weaker section. The college is situated close to bus stops and metro station hence making travel very convenient and affordable. Affordable PG(s) can be found easily in all the neighboring residential areas like Nehru Nagar, Vinobapuri, Amar Colony, etc.

Campus Life

4

Campus life is not very exciting throughout the year except for August and March. During August, you get to witness loads of Cultural societies conducting their auditions and orientations in the campus premises which is one helluva experience to have in your college life. Along with that, you get to see the buzz of DUSU elections on the campus. On your first couple of days, different candidates would try to woo you by giving you chocolate, roses, and free movie tickets, so you can have some nice days of free entertainment. In March, Hyperion the Cultural Society of the college conducts its annual fest Aaghaz. It is one of the most awaited fests in DU and every year, students get to see well-known artists perform. The whole college is decorated During those days and students from all across Delhi attend the fest. Else, you can always hang in the canteen or check out the library. There might not be many books over there but you can go through the e-library for more stuff

Course Curriculum Overview:

The core subjects are very well divided, the main problem arises with the other additional subjects which requires efforts as same as the other subject even though they don't hold any importance as such. Maybe reducing other subject or making them practical based instead of theory based would be helpful.

The placements of my college are moderate as the average package is ?6.5 lakhs and the highest package is around ?23.02 lakhs . Many prestigious companies like delloite, accenture have held various placement sessions in DRC and it's overall a good to place for companies to get high skilled students. The placement cell is very active too which makes it possible for our college to get many internships and placements opportunities.

The Fest organised by this college is Priyadarshini and the annual fest Rajnigandha. The Fest are not great in comparison to other du college and are not that much celebrated. There are many different kinds books present in library like literature,Hindi, Chemistry, Maths, zoology, biology, botany, political science, History Geography the books are only alloted till 12pm and only for 15 days after that you will be charged if book is not returned Sports and Extracurricular are good but classrooms are not that great most projectors in classrooms don't work . There are many good societies in college like jamini the art society and others but joining has caused students to leave their classes which affects them academically

The placements cell Avenues regarding the placement offers coming to the college. Major companies of the job market come to the campus for recruitment like KPMG, deloitte, zepto, EY, ZS Associates and many more. The students from the final year itself gets eligible for placements. Around 30-40% students get the palcements through the placement drive. The highest package during the last palcement season was around 18 to 20LPA, while the average was 7 to 8LPA. I will certainly go for higher studies in operational research.
