Remarks

The college is grade A+ by NAAC. The registration process starts in May and the cut-off start to release in June. The admission process is quite simple once the cut-off release you have to apply for the particular course and download the from the du site and go for counselling in the applied college along with the original documents required for the admission. It's a merit based admission process. Lady Irwin College is located in the centre of Delhi. The nearest metro station is Mandi House. The bus stop is also a few meters away. The campus is huge. The crowd is good. it's a cultural hub. Many are nearby for example doll museum, art gallery, Lilit Kala academy. But a very limited course is offered by the college for a bachelor degree i.e food technology and home science. Its heaven for shopping freaks Bengali Market, Cp, Janpath, Palika bazaar are very close to the college. Historical places Agrasen ki bauli is within walking distance from the college.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I have a keen interest in food processing and technology. Actually, most of the teachers are very helpful, qualified and knowledgeable except one and two. Teaching quality is also great. The teachers are very qualified the teaching methods are also good, projector, ppt are used apart from conventional methods. The students to teacher ratio are 20:1. The curriculum is also relevant. But for the industrial level internships are a must and it's also really helpful to decide which line you want to get in. i.e like research and development, sensory evaluation. The exam is conducted semester wise and the difficulty level is intermediate.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

An off-campus internship is necessary. Delhi milk service is the place where I have done my internship its an observatory internship so no stipend. Learning: Reception collection of milk, chilling of milk, processing of milk. Quality control and assurance, lab testing, sensory analysis of milk and milk products. Production of various milk products. Effluent treatment plant and testing.

Placement Experience

2.5

Recruiting companies don't come to college for placement, but college does have its placement cell, from the food technology department our senior do get jobs in big companies. Mentors have their own contacts and help you to get internships and maybe jobs.

Fees and Financial Aid

The total fees for the entire course are 76000. Which is quite affordable. The scholarship is available for only financial aid, meritorious students and attendance is compulsory. The interview is conducted for a scholarship.

Campus Life

3

The annual cultural fest is QUINTESSENCE. It's conducted in February and March. Various societies are there ECO CLUB, DHWANI- THE MUSIC SOCIETY, NSS UNIT, CHITRIKA- THE PHOTOGRAPHY & FILM SOCIETY, NRITYANJALI- THE DANCE SOCIETY, TULIKA- THE FINE ARTS SOCIETY, VANI- THE DEBATING SOCIETY, ETERNAL PHRASES- THE LITERARY SOCIETY, PROPHECY – THE FASHION SOCIETY, ENTREPRENEURSHIP CELL, MUKHAUTA –THE STAGE PLAY SOCIETY, AKAAR- THE STREET PLAY SOCIETY. Availability of books: Reference books are available in the library, but there are certain books that only available for 1 day. Which is quite less time. The classroom is good and spacious and ventilated. The sports society is their ACE, the basketball court is also there.

I will rate 10 out of 7 to this course curriculum because in this course the experiment and lab works is too low as compare to another courses like biomedical science, bsc zoology and many more. But it's ok I'm happy with this course.

Students become eligible for placements on the 3rd year, we have decent placement opportunities but not the best, highest package is around 15 lakhs. Companies that visit are Bain and Co., Urban Clap etc. average package is around 5 lakhs. My plans after getting the degree are getting into a master's programme and pursuing research.
