Remarks

As I am already from an NIT family previously so opted to remain in the same family but go to a different house so NIT Silchar was the best option I could come up with due to it being an NIT, in the North Eastern region, nearest to my home town, lesser academic fees, well known fests and events in the northeast region. Good academic and campus life and as well as good extra xo curricular activities such as general sports, various clubs etc.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

MBA was chosen solely on self-interest basis, having a technical background, wanting to improve commerce skills as well to sustain in a highly competitive environment. There are at present only 6 faculties operating in this department constitution of approximately 100 PG students and about 10 research scholars. Conceptually intelligent faculty base with all members possessing a Doctorate in their respective fields and with minimal experience of 2 years for the newest member of teaching staff up to about 12 -15 years of the senior-most member in terms of teaching and supervising. Exams were held generally offline basis but recently due to pandemic inline classes and exams were the only options hence to test knowledge overall, instead of exams at the end of semesters certain projects were assigned

Internships Opportunities

2.5

Few companies providing internship for off-campus internships for MBA are Reliance Trends, PowerGrid, Amul, and several other institute internships. Much is not known at present due to a personal lack of knowledge.

Placement Experience

2.5

Students eligible for campusing are Bachelors of Technology final year and Masters of Business Administration final year. The general MBA average package observed from follow-ups during the last few years is approximately 5LPA with close to 90% of people from the MBA course getting placed in campusing.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee hike policy has not been understood yet but comparing previous batches fees, the hike is not as much noticeable. The initial semester fees contain approximately 90 thousand INR excluding hostel fees followed by an estimate of 50 thousand per semester from the next semester onwards which also excelled the hostel fees. The functionality of scholarship, financial assistance within the campus is not researched upon, as personal requirements and interests were lacking.

Campus Life

4

The annual techno-management fest is known as Technoesis held during the odd semester, probably in October and the annual cultural fest is called Incandescence operated during even semester mostly by February. It also constitutes an annual metal fest called Thunder march during the march. Sports activities such as cricket, football, basketball, badminton, gymnasium, are some extracurricular activities held as an event every year.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

Not joined the hostels physically yet due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Hence, the honest review cannot be provided for the personal experience but indeed from the review of seniors or people of other courses who have spent their time in person the reviews were pretty good.

Admission

Interview

Interview Experience

5

The group discussion round was not held due to lack of physical presence at the campus and a direct PI was held instead to evaluate the candidates. Special preparations were not so much as required and all the questions were based on personal experiences provided in the application and few days to day managerial decisions taken by an individual in general without knowledge of the terms and academic experience.

Course Curriculum Overview:

To learn about business, entrepreneurship i chose this course but it didn't helped me in any way as of now It has only helped me in enhancing my communication skills more and nothing more than that My suggestions would be the course should include some digital marketing course and some other course as well so that it becomes worthy to study there and become ready for the outside world. The units exams were conducted on after every 1 month of course duration gets complete and the final 3/4 months of duration difficulty levels were not that much hard if you have studied properly and understood the concept you will pass

Once I applied to TU with my MAT score I was asked to come to the university for the GD and PI round. My GD round went for 15 minutes and we were given the topic about GST. In my PI round questions were asked about all my background activities besides academics, my reasons for choosing this course etc. Various mock interviews online helped me a lot while preparing for this round.

Remarks:

The MBA admissions are merit based. The basic eligibility was graduation with 50% marks and a CAT score. TU also conducted an interview and a counselling session once I was shortlisted. TU is a central university under the government, so they offer quality education for very less fees. This was the major reason for joining TU.
