Remarks
MDI Gurgaon is one of the best B-schools in India. I am enrolled in the HR course of MDI Gurgaon which ranks amongst the top 3 courses. The teachers here are amazing, the students are extremely talented and intelligent and the admission process of this college is completely fair and unbiased. Though it may take some time for the waitlists to move, finally in the end, this college takes admission on just merit. I preferred this college over a lot of other calls I had including the IIMs, and the main reason was the legacy this college has, the kind of alum base it has, the placement packages it can give, and the kind of networks I would make in this college, interacting with the best students of the country. PS: This college is one of the very few colleges in the country where you will hardly find a student below 95%ile. Be it the HR batch or PGPM the people from 95-97 also get selected when they have nailed their GD and PIs otherwise the average percentile is around 98.
Course Curriculum Overview
The faculty members of this college are amazing, including some of the best from the industry also who come as our guest lecturers. These guest lecturers also devote full time and the kind of knowledge they impart to us is beyond words. Most of the teachers here are extremely qualified and showcase immense and deep knowledge regarding their subject. Some of the teachers are famous India-wide and being taught by them makes the MBA experience all the more worthwhile. The course curriculum is continuously being made better and better each year. Generally, there are a lot of case discussions in the class and the pedagogy doesn't just involve teaching theoretical concepts. Class presentations, role plays, case discussions, storytelling are all commonly used in classes to make them interesting and to enable more and more knowledge sharing.
Internships Opportunities
Summer internships make a very important part of B-school life. And here at MDI Gurgaon, the summer internship opportunities are amazing. We all work hard a lot to bag a summer internship as the summer placement process starts in our 2nd term and it is a very hectic process. But, at the end of it, especially for the HR batch just being 60 students in number, get good placements in top firms of the country be it the E-commerce sector or the FMCG sector or the pharma sector.
Placement Experience
The placements at this college are good with good salaries for students. The total strength of the HR batch is 60 while for PGPM it is 240. So, for the HR batch, as MDI stands amongst the top 3 colleges of India, placements are much easier and generally, the HR batch gets placed at stellar HR profiles like HRBP and HR and strategy Consultants in the top companies of India at a very high package. Summer placements also have a good number of top companies coming with a very good average package.
Fees and Financial Aid
The kind of fees structure this college has is similar to its other counterparts. For all the top B-schools of the country except FMS, the fees required is above 20 lakhs per annum which is the case with MDI's programs of PGPM and PGP-HRM but at the end of the day, it is all well and good with the kind of environment we have to learn, MDI's brand name and the placement we get in the end.
Campus Life
Because of the COVID scenario, this batch of 2020-22 is not able to enjoy campus life and we really miss it. But from what I have heard from my seniors is that it is amazing. There are a lot of options for food, party and fun available and it is an experience for life
Hostel Facilities
Hostel life is compulsory for all the students at MDI Gurgaon because of the hectic MBA schedule we have. But, because of COVID scenario, we all have been taking classes from home and are not able to live the hostel life.
Interview Experience
MDI Gurgaon takes admission through a rigorous process as it only takes admission through merit. So, the first process of getting a shortlist at MDI Gurgaon for any program like PGPM or PGPHRM or PGPIM is getting a good percentile which means 95+. After that, there is a process of WAT and GD and PI. So, we are all given a topic about which we have to write down our thoughts on a paper (1 sheet) for say around 10 minutes, after that the paper is collected and we are supposed to have a GD amongst ourselves. The panel for GD in my case included 16 participants, due to which there were times when it became a fish market. But, then till the time people can control it, it is all well and good. GD process was shortly followed by the PI. The PI revolved around my work-ex, my skills, hobbies and some current topics. It was overall a good PI, the teachers were very supportive and held the PI in an extremely friendly manner. So, overall my experience from the process was really good.
