An insider's perspective of MDI Gurgaon

MDI Gurgaon is one of the best colleges in India for pursuing PGDM program. The location, faculty, placements and the completely transparent and merit based admission criteria make for a great learning experience. Forums like Facebook and pagalguy can be used to know more about the college.

My course is PGP-IB which is a dual degree program where one year is spent in MDI and one year at ESCP Europe. The course ensures holistic learning as a vast variety of courses is offered. All the faculty members at MDI were PHD holders and had industry experience. The exam syllabus comprised of topics covered in class and someone with good knowledge can easily breeze through.

Companies visit for different domains like Finance, Operations, Marketing, General Management, Strategy, Human Resources. All major recruiters visit the campus and hire for top management roles. The median stipend was 2.2 lacs for tho months. The entire list of companies can be accessed through the official website.

Students become eligible for summer placements in their first semester and for finals, in the last semester. All major brands visit the campus like Amazon, BCG, Mckinsey etc. The average summer stipend is close to 2.3 lacs for 2 months and for finals, the average and median is around 22 lacs. Companies visit for all domains like Marketing, Finance, Consulting, Operations. There is a dedicated HR course as well which is in the top 3 in India. There is 100% placement for both summers and final placement. I plan on working in an FMCG as a Product manager after graduating.

The fee for PGP-IB program was close to 25 lacs. There are scholarship options for top performers as well. The placements are among the best in India in terms of both salary packages, companies and job roles.

The annual fest is organised by student run committees and they are usually organised in December. The library as all relevant books and publications along with access to Bloomberg Terminal. Due to covid scenario, the fest was conducted by student club Illumina online and was a huge success. The admission committee, web committee, hostel club, all activities are run by students only with professors heading some of the clubs/committees.

The admission criteria comprise application shortlisting and cat score followed by Group discussion, a written test and then a Personal Interview. The topics comprise of general knowledge and current affairs. Reading newspapers articles and editorials helped me in preparing for the group discussion.
