Remarks
Department of Germanic and Romance studies is the only department in the university of Delhi providing graduation in foreign languages. It provides a good campus as the department is located on the main campus of Delhi University. The admission process is quite easy. Just we have to show relevant certificates like 10th and 12th with a minimum of 70% mark. The faculties of this department is also too good and that's the main reason to choose this over other. The college is located in a perfect location with all necessity available in a walk away. The surrounding and atmosphere of the college is so enjoyable.
Course Curriculum Overview
People who look for going to European countries should know European languages. So people with such aim should pursue their graduation here as it helps in a foreign language. The medium number of students in a class is very advantage of this department as it allows students to have a good communication space in the class. The number of students will be a maximum of 60 only, which enables the student to concentrate on class apart from the large classes with more students. The faculties are the best. They provide native language faculties with Indian faculties too, which allows students to interact with native speakers from European countries. The faculties cover all important aspects of language teaching like speaking, listening, reading and writing very perfectly. All the faculties are experienced who have done post-graduation in respective languages. To check our knowledge and improvement, they conduct internal exams once in two months and a semester exam in the end of 5th month of the course.
Placement Experience
We will have campus placement with Amazon company only and it comes in our 5th semester with a very attractive package around 4.6 lack per annum. There is no percentage barrier to get hired, as it is completely based on our interview performance. In case if we haven't got campus placement, we have many other opportunities in co-operating sectors, translation field, tourism field, govt embassy, etc. So opportunities are there for this course.
Fees and Financial Aid
Talking about the fees structure, it's very cheap and bearable. It cost only 2046 per year. Everyone can afford it easily compared to other colleges. College also provides scholarships based on the language we choose like DAAD scholarship for German learning students and similar scholarship in respected languages. It gives us the opportunity for campus exchange program too.
Campus Life
As it is a department and not a college, there is no active society and another fest like usual colleges. The campus is enjoyable as its location and surroundings are perfect but there are no co-curricular activities here, but there are small functions like German day, Spanish day, etc to celebrate.
