Remarks

I wanted admission in South Campus, and Sri Venkateswara College was one of the nearest college to the campus which is famous and offers M.Sc. Mathematics. So, I took admission there. The campus of Sri Venkateswara college is nice, and it was near to the South Campus, where our classes took place. So, it was convenient for me to walk to the College whenever required. Moreover, the canteen of Sri Venkateswara college provides one of the best authentic South Indian dishes (my favorite) and the college fest is to visit and experience for. The college is so lively at all the times, so whenever I went there, I got the feeling of studying in a popular college. My earlier college was Maitreyi college, where there was no such crowd. So to feel the campus life, I opted for getting admission to Sri Venkateswara college, University of Delhi.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course of M.Sc. Mathematics was well updated. But South Campus doesn't provide all the available optional papers. At south campus, you will get fixed papers, which are available according to the faculty available at the campus. The faculty was very small at south campus for Mathematics department, so the options were limited compared to all the options available at North Campus, but the papers offered were the best once out of all the choices for me. The professors used to give marks for attendance, which was very sad, as there were no marks for attendance in north campus. The faculties like C.S. Lalitha Mam, Dr. Sachi Srivastava, Zothansanga Sir were very good.

Placement Experience

3

The placement opportunities were not very high in South Campus. Most of the students used to opt for preparing for GATE or NET exams, rather than sitting for placement. The placement opportunities for M.Sc. Mathematics students were mostly provided through the joint initiative of North Campus and South Campus. Not many companies used to come for it. I was not interested in placements, so I don't have much knowledge about it.

College Events

4

The campus life was very nice. Being both the part of South campus and Venkateswara college, we used to get opportunity to participate at both the places. The college fest, Nexus was always a huge success, which mostly used to be held for 3 days, where different bands and societies used to come and perform. Along with it different society and department fests used to take place at the college. The college also used to have Job mela or placement fair. The south campus itself used to have inter department sports competition, campus photography competition, freshers and farewells, which were a hit.

Campus Life

The South Campus was very clean. The Campus was very beautiful, if you have luck, you could see peacocks also in the campus. The building was well maintained, though the chairs were very old with side writing board which mostly broken.

Since it is open learning university..they couldn't give us time.. because the class also got started 1 month before exam...and teachers had to finish...the syllabus. But they don't really care about us. And syllabus I think is okay .. in Commerce. It is updated.

Placement Experience:

Campus placement is done in the 3rd year. The highest PPO given is 24,00,000 to auditing and taxation departments. Average package is about ?15,00,000 to ?18,00,000. Companies like Eay, KPMG and more visit our college for placement. Most students under the commerce department get offered internships. Other than this, the placement cell also actively keeps sending internship opportunities for students to enhance their profiles. I am an English honours student l, thus there is no placement option for me directly unless I take up options from the P-Cell. I have already interned at EY India, Gurgaon, as a forensics and risk management specialist( throigh personal referral). My knowledge (attained from DCAC) of research, report and article writing were used adequately.

Placement Experience:

There was no such provision of jobs or fixed placements however there was a placement cell which was quite active and hence there were opportunities for placements by contacting the cell and placement fairs were also organised that were open for all, but not many opportunities were given. The companies that took candidates were economic times, TOI etc paying a very basic fresher stipend of 10-15k. Very few students actually got to know about these placement drives hence the placements weren't great also not many companies came on campus.
