Remarks

No there are no bad remarks about my college apart from small disputes among the students. People in siliguri respect our college a lot because it has provided various small employments to so many people, from small restaurants, PGs to various auto and commutation services

Entrance Preview

WBJEE, Rank-21385, I opted for this college because i was getting a good specialization here according to my rank. Also the location is good.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum is average to be honest. They need to focus more on developing practical skills of the students. Rather than concentrating on theoretical teachings, they should provide better facilities for practical applications. Also they should decrease the burden of assignments and projects on students. Due to these people dont get time to study for their own development and are stuck in writing assignment and mugging up notes.

Internships Opportunities

No my college does not provide any internship. We are advised to pursue our internships from various other organisations. However, the college conducts several workshops and seminars in various fields.

Placement Experience

1.5

Placements are not so good here. Mainly because of low funding by the trustees. the companies are not paid well enough to visit our college and hence we end up visiting other colleges to participate in pool campussings. In my batch out of around 300 students only 20-25 students were placed.TCS- 3LPA, L&T Infotech- 3LPA, IBM-3LPA, Odessa Technologies-2.8 LPA, Shriram Finance- 2LPA.

College Events

4

We used to have all sort of functions in our college. 4 days cultural fest. First day had inter college cultural competitions, second and third day bands used to perform. Every year technical competitions and sports competitions occured in our college. all the colleges under same university used to compete.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure was expensive. We used to pay 40000 per semester. Although the college was underrated the fee structure and hostel fee was very expensive as compared to its status.

Fees and Financial Aid

Yes, the students who belong to minority and backward class students used to get fee relaxation and scholarship from college. Which we couldn't avail because we belong to general category.

Campus Life

3

Gender ratio was approx 60:40 in our college (boys:girls). We had inter college competitions during tech fest where all other students from different colleges used to come and participate in Various competitions like robotics, Sudoku, Ethical hacking, debates, extempore and many other small activities.

Hostel Facilities

1.5

We paid 19200 for hostel every semester. hostels were not inside college premises so we used to take public transport to reach college which made it even more expensive. Food was nice but in the rooms only bed and an cupboard was provided. No extra facilities.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni network is not that strong. although we have an alumni meet every year, but we are not able to attend it as maximum people are busy in their lives. But friends and eseniors are well connected on the social network. They help each other in every possible way, from career advices to refferals in various organisations.

Exam Structure

Lab exams are kept without any gaps.although in theory papers we get sufficient gaps to study, depending on the level of complexity of the subject. We used to give two practical exams in a single separated by a break of just 45 mins. out of which the first 10 mins passed away in deciding whether to feed the brain or stomach

Faculty

4

The faculty in my college are highly qualified. They are all highly knowledgable in their respective fields. They go into deep detail while teaching which sometimes backfires as the students are unable to extract the facts. Also they should decrease the burden of assignments and projects on students. Due to these people dont get time to study for their own development and are stuck in writing assignment and mugging up notes.

I’d rate HIT’s placement opportunities as 7.5/10 overall. It’s very good for CSE, IT, and ECE, decent for Electrical and core branches, and improving every year with more companies visiting and better preparation programs. If you’re skilled and consistent — especially in coding, communication, and aptitude — you’ll almost certainly get placed before graduatin

7th semester is when the students get to sit for placements. I am not sure about the total no of companies visited but I am aware of the name of few companies like IBM Infosys Wipro Capsitech Tech Mahindra cognizant etc . Mostly the girls are 100 percent placed cause there is diversity hiring. Mass recruiters is what visit our campus mostly.. I personally would look for a job after graduation highest package offered displayed by college is 75 lpa but I don't think so it is real. Maybe someone had worked hard and got placed off campus. On campus highest isbi guess 12-14 lpa

Course Curriculum Overview:

- I choose Data Science as it is new to my college when comparing with the other branches. The curriculum is just okay it is not per industry standards but if students deep drives in each aspects then they are likely to crack GATE exams. - The whole curriculum needs and improvement from the very 1st Year and removal of irrelevant subjects like Discrete Mathematics, Electonics, Biology for IT branches are required. - Semester exams are conducted every 6 months and CTs are conducted every 2 months
