Radhika's Review On Indian Institute Of Science - [IISc], Bangalore

I took GATE was the entrance examination. We had an interview after that headed by the profs of the dept. I chose this college because this is India's top college which gives importance to research and builds new technology.

I have just had 1 sem till now. I had courses which spreads widely to know my basic interest. I had taken up Analog VLSI,digital VLSI,DSP,Essential circuits for system design and mathematics for electrical engineers.

We presently don't have internship by monthly we get a stipend of Rs 12,400. But I had an internship during my B.Tech course. I had done in university of southern California. Funded by IUSSTF. They had offered a stipend of $3000 for 2 months.

This details are not to be disclose until all the placements are done. But the companies mainly include most of the core electronic companies like Intel,rambus,TI,Qualcomm, NVIDIA,GE.

We have a cultural festivalin our dept. Hosted by the first years where all the alumini are invited along with profs. This event is called Potluck. We have sports alumini interaction and a cultural program followed later.

Fee structure is really fesible. It's 30k per yr and we get a stipend of 12.4k per month. So we can easily cover it up without any extra help. If we don't take hostels it is just 20k.

Loan is actually not required. As I mentioned earlier. We get a stipend of 12.4k in which around 6k may be removed for hostel and mess fees the left out amount is just sufficient to cover up the fees.

We have lot of research already going on in labs. But interested students can participate in fests and in competitions. There is fully fledged gymkhana. Which is one of the best place for all the sports.

Mess is one of the best you can get. There are 4 messes depending on the cuisine. 2 for north Indians and 2 for south Indian style. Both veg and non veg messes are available. Hostels are also pretty good. They have almost all facilities other than internet.

As mentioned earlier we have an event called Potluck where all the alumini are called and we have a great interaction session with them and also an open day event where all common people apart from dept are allowed inside in college to get to know the research n projects displayed by each dept.

We have a busy schedule throughout the semester. We have continuous evaluation which includes our performance in assignments,quiz,midterms and also labs. The final exam mostly wieghs 50% and the others 50%. Depending on the course we might have a mini project also.

They are very knowledgeable and try to induce lot of interest in us. They are friendly and always show interest in discussing new topic. They help wih any of the issue at hand. and they always try to motivate.
