Remarks

So the faculty of Science, Commerce and Political Science is very good. Also, the college is just 1.2Km away from Govindpuri which is an inexpensive place as far as main North and South Campus areas are concerned. It is inexpensive because you will find PGs with monthly rent starting from Rs.6,000 and flat rent of Rs.8000 where 4 people can live. So, the place is really inexpensive. And the most important aspect is that the societies of Deshbandhu College are one of the best in whole Delhi University. There are a total of 18 societies and students get a chance of tremendous exposure. Negatives about the college are that most students don't take part in societies and don't use the platform which can give them such good exposure.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

All the teachers who are teaching in any DU college are highly qualified with all of them having a PhD. But in our Physics department, we are having teachers who are just amazing. Dr Tyagi sir, Dr Ruchika Joshi, Dr Jyoti, Dr Deepti, Dr Reeta, Dr Ayushi, Dr Manoj, Dr Ajay to name a few. In our department, we are having around 22 teachers. Total students in the Physics department is around 120. So the student-faculty ratio is 5.45. The other strong departments of our college are Maths, all Science departments, economics, commerce and Political Science department. Exams in DU are always timely.

Internships Opportunities

5

You will easily get a summer internship with Rs. 10,000 stipend. Generally, sales, customer care executive roles are offered. The most important thing is that if you are seriously looking for a job at Deshbandhu College you will easily get one. Just join a society develop on your communication skill, get one internship each in your 1st and 2nd year and you will easily get a good placement with an option of getting placed in another college also since all colleges of DU allow each other’s students in their annual placement fairs.

Placement Experience

4.5

It depends on the course you are pursuing and want to pursue in future. Like most of the BA and BA (Hons.) students come in DU with the aim of getting an environment for UPSC Civil Services preparation, most of the students in B.Sc. And B.Sc.(Hons.) who take admission in DU want to pursue M.Sc in future. So we are left with the commerce and economic background i.e. B.Com and BA Economics most of whom prepare for an MBA. So if you are looking to get placed after graduation you will definitely get an offer regardless of your course. Just keep in mind that since you are not pursuing any professional course like B.Tech, MBA, B.Ed. you need to develop certain skills like communication, coding, etc. on your own or with the help of college societies. There is an active placement cell in college 'CYFLE', and they did a great job from the last 2 years be it conducting employability workshops, internship fairs, regular placement on-campus drives and annual placement fair.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee is affordable in our college ranging from 7,000 - 20,000 for different courses. Scholarships based on weak economic status is provided where half of your course fee is refunded. Forms need to be filled and submitted with proofs every year.

Campus Life

5

The crowd at our college is just great. We keep having Nukkad drama by our Dramatics society, Dance and music performance by respective societies. Being a strong 4000 crowd a lot of companies keep coming for their advertisement with interactive and engaging shows. Also, we are regularly visited by NDTV India for putting forward the opinion of youth on various issues. Many of us personally also got a chance to visit India TV and NDTV studios at no cost, even the commute is beard by them. Being a hotspot of DUSU elections you will see some really big political faces in our college (I have seen Anurag Thakur from a 1 ft. distance). In the election time like any other DU college you will meet College Netas reciting their name, post, ballot no. all day but that is also a unique experience. You just have to accept the parties these Netas give (yes, they give a lot of eating stuff) and at last vote for the most deserving candidate. Also elections are held for the departmetal posts.

Other Applied Colleges

Dyal Singh College | B.Sc. (Hons.) Physics

Because Dyal Singh College is situated in Lajpat Nagar and it is a very costly place. Most of their students live in Govindpuri so I took Deshbandhu.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Life science includes zoology botany and chemistry considering this combo I think the study material is quite okay in terms of topics chemistry connects school teaching with one step ahead learning . Zoology provides new insights on various topics . Botany covers deeper understanding of syllabus . So overall it's good . Hands on lab work meets the demand of the subject . Also the topics taught match with the type of questions asked in exam. Difficulty level i would say it's moderate for botany and zoology but for chemistry is quite tough. Time management is a much needed skill for examination purpose. For course curriculum i would say more focus on current situation should be laid rather than history .

I think that the course curriculum is good and well managed . The curriculum has all necessary subjects related to our course as well as all other necessary subjects like human values and basic ethics. I find our course curriculum is apt for our course . Thought their is a lag for more practical learning and skills. It will be better if they add more practical learning.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The syllabus of Electronics Hons and Electrical Engineering is same but makes it different is how we perceive it. We study the syllabus with theoretical aspects while the engineers with practical aspects. We have a chance to opt for the 4th year, which only comprises of Research. One of the optionals is Generic Elective and if you take GE from same department for all semesters, you will attain a minor degree. The Faculties and whole curriculum is great but the other optionals require improvement. The other optionals only make the Student Life hectic, that stumbles the Student's focus from Course track.
