Remarks

The management is quite helpful and whatever works that requires to be done is carried out quite smoothly.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

In the first year the subjects are same for each department. From second year onwards, the courses are taught according to the departments. Aerospace engineering mainly focuses on the dynamics of an aircraft, the aerodynamics, structure, control and stability of an aircraft. The exams are held semester wise. There are 5 subjects per semester with a total of 8 semesters. Two main exams are held in every semester, namely the mid sems and end sems. Exams are mainly based on whatever is taught in class and the questions are a mixture application based and theoretical. The application based question will judge you based on your presence of mind and application of theory in real world scenarios which will be quite helpful in your professional life. We have practical classes too with 3 practical subjects in each semester. The number of practical subjects vary in a few semester, but it's usually 3.

Placement Experience

4

The placement in the college is quite good. The average package offered if around 5-6lacs per annum and renowned companies like PwC, Capgemini, L&T, Texas Instruments, etc offer on campus placements. More than 90% of the students who sit in the placements get placed each year with a decent package. The CST, Electronics, Electrical and Mechanical departments offer the best placements.

College Events

3.5

The college has a number of fests. The 2 main ones are Rebeca- The cultural fest and Instruo- The technical fest. It also has a music fest and department specific fests throughout the year. The fests usually have a timespan stretching over 3-4 days and the crowd consists of students from the college as well as from colleges across the country. Many college participate in the tech fest events and the events have attractive prizes.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee as of now is approximately rupees 40000 per semester excluding hostel and mess fees. This covers up the tuition, lab and exam fee. The hostel fee is 3000 rupees per semester and the mess fee varies from 2500-3500 rupees per month. It is a government college so although a bit expensive, the return on investment will be good in the future.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college offers a number of scholarships for the economically challenged students as well as the students who have reservation. I did not avail any scholarship or education loan

Campus Life

4

There are a number of clubs in the college. The popular ones include robotics, music, dance and social services. The gender ratio is about 10:1 male to female in the institute. The University has 3 main big grounds in which a number of sports like football, cricket, etc are played. There is a basketball courts and swimming pool too in the institute.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Yes, sharing for the first 2 years, 4 students per room, in 3rd year you can opt for either single or sharing room and in 4th year single room for every student. The rooms are quite big and spacious and 4 students can stay in the room without any problem. Each student gets a bed, a table and a wardrobe. There are 3 hostels for 1st year, 3 hostels for 2nd year, 2 hostels for 3rd year and 5 halls for 3rd and 4 years. The 4th years mainly reside in the halls.

Alumni/Alumna

The seniors and alumni are very helpful and are always ready to help in any way possible, academically or personally. The alumni list is quite big and they're spread all across the world in each country, and are always ready to help whenever needed.

Admission

Got into the college through JEE Mains counselling. This is one of the premium institutes in India to get an engineering degree from. It has been ranked 19 in the NIRF list of Engineering college rankings and 3 in West Bengal. The placements in this college are very decent and a lot has been contributed in the research field from this college. It is the 2nd oldest engineering college in India, so the alumni network is very strong. To get into the college you need to apply on the Mains counselling portal and will get a call from the college according to your rank if you're selected.

Faculty

4

The faculty in the college are highly qualified and knowledgeable. Most of the professors and highly experienced and we have guest professors too who have taught in IITs or even renowned foreign universities. The average ago of the faculty is about 45 years and each professor has a masters or PhD in the respective field they teach. Many of the professors have experience in their respective industry after which they opted for teaching so their practical and application based knowledge is also quite strong.

I’d rate HIT’s placement opportunities as 7.5/10 overall. It’s very good for CSE, IT, and ECE, decent for Electrical and core branches, and improving every year with more companies visiting and better preparation programs. If you’re skilled and consistent — especially in coding, communication, and aptitude — you’ll almost certainly get placed before graduatin
