Course Curriculum Overview
It is relevant for the NET exams but otherwise I won't say it's very research driven or very contemporary. It tries to get your basics right for English Literature and a little bit of Linguistics but not in Criticism et al. We don't have any campus placements.
Placement Experience
We don't have any compulsory internship requirements and also I have never heard of campus placents for English. But for other, more professional courses, they do have some. We have to contact and go for voluntary internships that the department will approve but won't themselves suggest officially or contact anyone.
College Events
Farewell, freshers and other events. But mainly we have the Annual Fest and Techxetra (meant for technical course students or at least organised by them). Also Insignis (meant for the sciences). You may notice there isn't anything for erce and Humanities background and that is because we are still trying to convince the admin to do something or fund us for it. After I left, they had one small event but consistency hasn't been maintained.
Fee Structure And Facilities
It is slightly expensive for a government educational institution. Not very feasible for the lower middle class and working class background. Professional courses can be even more expensive You aren't provided with many scholarships as well through out the course, for Humanities.
Fees and Financial Aid
I did not. They didn't have many merit based scholarships There was only one 'Ishaan Uday' which you can't avail if your parent earns more than a certain amount (no matter whether you are in good terms with them or not) and even that stopped midway and only paid half the students half the amount.
Campus Life
Guys aren't allowed to go inside the girl's hostels and vice versa. Girls are bound by in curfews after 9 in their hotels whereas the guys roam around free whenever they want. Guys do all kinds of substance abuse in their rooms and only occasionally are they held accountable. Girls can't even think of smoking a cigarette, ever.
Hostel Facilities
Yes. We had an I time which was the worst thing. It was a closed campus and yet only the girls had the in time. The university was very sexist in that way. We also had to get two to three signatures just for going home or staying outside and there have been several cases of the authorities calling our parents and shaming us for not going home and staying out with friends/boyfriends, in spite of the student being over 18 (some even 26/27) years.
Alumni/Alumna
I guess. I don't know much about that. We had seniors and they helped but we weren't so much in contact with the alumni.
Admission
It was an impulsive decision. I gave the entrance and got in as the topper so I didn't want to go there cause I was a science student previously and still got in as the topper. I wanted to go for other universities where I could learn more from others. However, due personal reasons I joined. It's an MCQ entrance examination.
Faculty
Faculty isn't bad. I really liked some of the teachers. But their creativity is curbed by the curriculum and also the overall ignorance of the administration and VC towards Humanities. It is also the only humanities subject which has a Bachelors degree available in the college.
