Remarks
I don't have any bad remarks about the college. Just that it should focus more on the practical subjects and provide better placement opportunities to the students.
Entrance Preview
West Bengal Joint entrance ExaminationMy rank was 21387. I opted for this college because it was the best according to my rank. I was getting a better college but stream available was not very interesting to me. So i decided to compromise with the college but not with the stream.
Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum was well structured. The subjects were evenly divided in 8 semesters over the 4 years. The weightage of the subject depended on the practical use of the paper. Although i feel that a little bit of focus should have been shifted to the Laboratory part.
Internships Opportunities
My college does not offer any scholarship of its own. but it organized various seminars and workshops for the students to provide them some exposure. There was no stipend offered. I personally attended workshops on Ethical hacking, Aero-modelling and microprocessors.
Placement Experience
Placement in my college is not up to the mark. In my batch, out of 400 students only 20-25 were placed as the college was unable to lure companies for recruitment.Major recruiters included TCS, Shreeram Finance, IBM, Odessa Technologies and L&T Infotech. I was personally placed in L&T Infotech, but sadly i was the only one selected from my college. The Maximum package offered to us was 3.45 Lacs per annum.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Its a bit expensive given the rapport and placement of the college. we had to pay a sum of Rs.40000 per semester as tution + library fee. And the hostel and fooding was extra 24 thousand. The most irrelevant was the library fees which was 10000 per year, thats too much for 12 books an year.
Fees and Financial Aid
Our college did not provide any loan or scholarship of its own, it had tie-up with axis bank and Union Bank for loans. For education scholarships, student had to individually apply to the state department's welfare section.
Campus Life
Campus life was overall good. We had all sorts of sports facilities like cricket, basketball, table-tennis, carrom etc. Labs were well equipped and various events were organized for robotics and debates and extempore etc.
Hostel Facilities
Our college had no dedicated hostel. It had contracts with some of the private hostels. But the living condition was not upto the mark and the food was awful. Students preferred to live in PG's where they need to pay around 3500 for each month which included fooding and lodging.
Alumni/Alumna
There is no such alumni network but every one is connected to each other through facebook and other social networking sites. We have an yearly Alumni Meet, but not everyone is able to attend it due to the busy job life afterwards.
Exam Structure
The subjects were distributed in 8 semesters over 4 years. Each semester had 2 internal exams and one university exam of all subjects. The internal exams were of 20 marks for each subject. The university paper was of 70 marks. Practical papers were a must. They carried weightage of 100 marks.
Faculty
The faculty of my college was very laureate, and well behaved. They had great grasp over their subjects and knew how to transfer their knowledge to the students. There was one issue though. Teachers focused on the marks of the students rather than enhancing their practical skills. Not all but some teachers really were marks oriented.
