Remarks

I wanted to choose teaching as my career and had an honours degree in Physics.I wanted to have the M.Sc. degree to dig further in the subject.Physics department is quite good in this university and it's almost half an hour from my house hence I chose this university. Most of the professors are very helpful.Labs are equipped with latest apparatus and old ones as well. The campus is spread in huge area and it's full of trees which is required for a sound body and mind. One can easily get most of the books recommended in the syllabus from the central library or the departmental library. They are also starting smart classes hopefully from next year.Canteen is awful, there are other eateries inside the campus.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Most of the syllabus is in sync with other universities. But there is no project work which can be bad for students pursuing PhD.Only 3 topics are available for elective study (Condensed matter physics,Nuclear physics and Electronics). Astrophysics, Nano-science, Photonics etc new topics are not available. We are not provided with any industrial exposure.Faculty members are very very helpful and friendly. It's always a great experience attending Professor Amitabha Mukherjee's class ( never missed any till now ).

Fees and Financial Aid

I availed Swami Vivekanda Scholarship which is from the west bengal government. The amount of the scholarship is 30000 rs per annum. You need to get at least 53% in your previous exam to avail the scholarship.

Campus Life

4.5

There is 2 university grounds.inter department and inter university sports competition held every year.Volleyball ground, cricket ground, football grounds are there.Wifi is only available in hostel, not available in the department and the network reception is very poor inside campus.Central library is large and most of the recommended books can be easily found and many extra syllabus books also available. Departmental library also has a huge collection of books.Labs are equipped with old and new apparatus.

Actually In Present Circumstances , Most students wants a stable Government, Especially Central Gov job . So they Prepare for exams like SSC , SBI , IBPS, LIC , RRB etc.

Placements are quite good. But if you are looking for placement I would suggest to join M Stat or MSQE rather than M Math. M.Math students mostly go for higher studies. Regarding you will better recommendations in ISI.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Biotechnology is a highly demanding course in today's world. The syllabus for this course is mostly around bookish knowledge and you have to gather outside knowledge on your own. There must be an internship for every student arranged by department itself in various other institues or labs for practical work experience.
