Remarks

First of all, the college was opened in 2016(which was happened to be my joining year), so there was not a single scope for facing any harassment by the college seniors during my college life, Though these type of activities are completely illegitimate. Secondly, the college was an initiative taken by the Government with manifold amenities like hostel accommodation, library facilities, laboratory facilities, diligent professors etc. thirdly, the institute is located in a soothing and pollution free environment beside the river Torsa which will give me aesthetic feelings.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I am pursuing an undergraduate program in Electronics and Communication Engineering. The course curriculum, syllabus, exam pattern are structured by the university(MAKAUT) those are very much restricted to the traditional bookish knowledge and have lessened functionality to get accustomed with the modern or cutting-edge technologies. As a technical institution, whole first year comprises of not-so-relevant subjects and does not facilitate a firm grasp of actual learning. Continuity of the assigned subjects is never maintained here. Industrial exposure is determined by the college faculties which could merely be sensed as so-so, a 2 to 4 weeks of internship is arranged for every individual by the college during the end semester break of 3rd year. The faculties, who are posted in my college have immense expertise in their respective domains, friendly to the students, capable of taking an work out from a student, gives suggestive lectures. I would like to mention the names of Dr. Palash Das(Associate professor, dept. of electronics & communication) and prof. Sourav Chakraborty(Assistant professor, dept. of electronics & communication) for their kind efforts to the student's welfare.

Internships Opportunities

Yes, I have got an opportunity to attend a 15 days of non-stipend internship after 6th semester exam in Damodar Valley Corporation(DVC), arranged by the college and selecting on the basis of academic performance over the 3 years.

Placement Experience

1

Only 1 company(Zaro edutech.) visited in the year 2019-2020 for placement though did not pick a single student. Voluntary Training and Placement officer and supporting members are not so reluctant in their arena. Job opportunities through on-campus placement is null as I am graduating as the first batch. Still, I was able to attend the off-campus recruitment drives and some pooled-campus recruitment drive.

College Events

4.5

The college has a ragging free campus. There are recreational clubs(Music club, technical club, art and dance club, sports club) available for the enthusiastic pupils consisting around 20 to 30 participants each. There are 4 batches in the college among which 3rd year and 4th year students are allotted hostel facilities yet. "Croesso" is one of the major events worth to mention that is happened to welcome the freshers and an annual technical fest is hosted by the cultural committee. Seminars, promotional activities, national holiday are usual in the campus.

Fees and Financial Aid

Swami Vivekananda Scholarship is provided by the Government of West Bengal affiliated and AICTE approved university, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of technology(MAKAUT), to the meritorious students pursuing higher secondary/under graduate/post graduate students. Range of this scholarship starts from INR 1000 upto INR 5000. I hadn't opted any loans.

Campus Life

2.5

The campus is landed over 1 acre of area having one academic building, an administrative building, one library, one girl's hostel, 2 boy's hostel, a playground. Boy's hostels are distantly posted in the remote corner, and girl's hostel are upfront in the entrance. Building of 1 hostel, 1 gymnasium and 1 auditorium are currently in progress. Sand particles hover over the campus as it has a river just beside. There are sports facilities of Football, Cricket, Volleyball, Badminton and in terms of indoor games like table tennis, carom. Two 12MBPS wi-fi are hanged outside every hostel. Library has over 3000 copies of engineering related text books and newspaper and magazines are available. Laboratory equipment are furnished as the college is a new one, though are inadequate in terms of proximity. Number of labs per department is below the prescribed requirement.

Hostel Facilities

2

I have stayed in the college hostel for more than 3 and a half years in a moderate 15x10x10 room. each room is shared by 3 people, no request will be entertained for grabbing a single room. Hostel in recent build though got e poor condition due to lack maintenance even after manifold reporting. The water supply and electricity in the hostel is good. there are 4 high voltage generators but of no use in the hostels. One hostel warden is posted only for show. The campus are guarded by security stuffs, and two guards are also posted for the night shift. Food quality is very poor, I got astonished how I managed to survive these junkies. Along with that, Mess bill for meals is also not transparent.

I’d rate HIT’s placement opportunities as 7.5/10 overall. It’s very good for CSE, IT, and ECE, decent for Electrical and core branches, and improving every year with more companies visiting and better preparation programs. If you’re skilled and consistent — especially in coding, communication, and aptitude — you’ll almost certainly get placed before graduatin

7th semester is when the students get to sit for placements. I am not sure about the total no of companies visited but I am aware of the name of few companies like IBM Infosys Wipro Capsitech Tech Mahindra cognizant etc . Mostly the girls are 100 percent placed cause there is diversity hiring. Mass recruiters is what visit our campus mostly.. I personally would look for a job after graduation highest package offered displayed by college is 75 lpa but I don't think so it is real. Maybe someone had worked hard and got placed off campus. On campus highest isbi guess 12-14 lpa

Course Curriculum Overview:

- I choose Data Science as it is new to my college when comparing with the other branches. The curriculum is just okay it is not per industry standards but if students deep drives in each aspects then they are likely to crack GATE exams. - The whole curriculum needs and improvement from the very 1st Year and removal of irrelevant subjects like Discrete Mathematics, Electonics, Biology for IT branches are required. - Semester exams are conducted every 6 months and CTs are conducted every 2 months

For campus placements student become eligible from the 7th semester onwards and for internships student get eligible from 5th semester onwards. Wide no of companies visited our campus around 180+ and made around 580+ offers to the students. The highest salary was 58LPA which was offered by DE Shaw and the highest accepted salary was 51LPA in Microsoft. The average package rolls roughly around 10-12 LPA.The profile offered include SDE roles, management roles, finance in some cases. The overall placement percentage was around 80% with Branches like electrical and metallurgy moving above 90% followed by CSE and ECE in the mid 80s while for biotech and civil the placement percentage are generally below 70.My plans after getting the degree is to land a job offer from on campus placements.Therefafter maybe look out for and MBA from top B schools of india.
