Remarks

It is a very good college for higher education exclusively for women. People coming from the different socio-economic background are treated equally here and the teachers pour their heart to provide good quality education and moral life values.

Talking about Academics, the college tries its best to keep you motivated and provides a school like an environment by paying individual attention to each student. Considering the economics department in which I'm studying, the class size is 15, ensuring that only deserving candidates are put together in one room and the teachers observe each one of us.

Placement Experience

39 final year students were selected to join the Tata Consultancy Services in a campus interview session. 16 students got a job offer in the recruitment drive by TCS. The salary package is although unknown.

College Events

We have many festivals going on throughout the entire year. The Annual function being the biggest celebration of all. Inter college competitions are also maintained and 70% student participation in seen.

I wanted to dive deep into the actual concepts and workings of the economy and understand how the world works from an economist's point of view. Sadly the curriculam doesnt bridge the gap between theory and real life. It focuses heavily on textbook and not how the world works.

The Physical Chemistry faculties are the best I got, that influenced me to carry forward my research carrier in Physical Chemistry. It was good to be a part of that college

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would say the course is good but you have to opt for masters and PhD to get a good placement. After bsc there's not any placement. The curriculum was basically practical and theoretical based. But I think it should be more practical so that we can get a job after doing bsc. The teaching method was good I didn't have any problem with that. As it was under Calcutta University so the exam questions were too difficult, sometimes it came out of our syllabus , i think they should change this a little bit .

The reality of SCC

Course Curriculum Overview:

The syllabus for BSc. Microbiology Hons. was in line with my interests. Few topics like virology, bacteriology, and diversity of the microbial workd are what drew my attention to pick this course. Although there are some portions which one would consider "boring", but I believe every subject has its interesting as well as boring portions. It's seems fair to judge a subject by seeing if the "boring" portions outweigh the "interesting" parts or not.

In terms of relevance and comprehensiveness of the course curriculum, my rating is solid 4.1 out of 5. Because it offers a variety of courses like compulsory english, environmental science, constitution values of India, Inter Disciplinary Courses where one can opt for a variety of subjects which change along with the course proceeds or semester changes. Not only that two major papers and one minor paper are present throughout the semester. As a student we should be well aware of our country and its law as well as how we can keep our environment healthy followed by sustainable development.

Choose Wisely

One of the Best college in India.

I had applied for Ashutosh college, Muralidhar college, bethun college and Gokhale Memorial Girl's College for BSC psychology. But I did not get BSC psychology in bethune college so I was waiting for other colleges though my dream college was Gokhale Memorial girls College. First I had got a call from Muralidhar college and then after 2 to 3 days I got a call from vocal Memorial girls College. By call I meant that first my name came in the Muralidhar girls College merit list and then my name was published in the Gokul Memorial girls College merit list as this is my dream college I choose it over other colleges. So I don't regret my decision because, this college has excellent professors and great labs for practicing psychological practicals. Do not go by the past glory.

The admission was smooth, but in the payment process, I didn't get my money back from few colleges I applied for but didn't continue. All the candidates should keep an update of news and links of admission. SC and ST will get benifits along with OBCs, Calcutta University has bad placements and the syllabus has become a Little bit difficult.
