Course Curriculum Overview

4

The Physical Chemistry faculties are the best I got, that influenced me to carry forward my research carrier in Physical Chemistry. The curriculum for the Physical and Inorganic chemistry are upto the mark and I felt improvement in teaching style and curriculum is required for Organic Chemistry part. The difficulty of Internal examination can be improved a bit.

Internships Opportunities

3

There are few central internship opportunities present. There should be more internship opportunities from the institute itself, so that the students get a good quality exposure of what is happening all over the world science. More student seminars etc, so that the students get more research and job opportunities.

Fees and Financial Aid

I paid 9000 yearwise on average. Now this price have increased, which I think should be reduced. I don't remember the fees details, but I have provided an average price. The fees for the reserved category were okay, but for general the fees seemed a bit higher.

Campus Life

4

The facilities were good. Since it's a culturally rich place, there is a vast opportunity for cultural practices. Moreover, there is a good opportunity for sports also. Student run social groups can be developed more there like IITs.

Hostel Facilities

4

New hostels were good, but the old hostels need renovation. Meal qualities in few boys hostels need improvement. The hostel fees of old hostels seemed overrated to me. The local PG and rooms are good and available in affordable price.

Admission

I admitted to a college under Burdwan University and I got an opportunity in Jadavpur University and Ramkrishna Mission, Belur and finally I opted to study chemistry in Visva Bharati University. I actually chose this college as this was nearer to my hometown. I thought later that I could have carried out my Computer Science study in Belur Ramkrishna Mission. I got admitted to Visva Bharati by marks comparison and I got chance in Ramkrishna Mission Belur by taking Admission test.

Faculty

4

Since it is a central university, the faculty to student ratio is standard. There are many good faculties in this institute. In our times, there are few notable good faculties from each branch of the chemistry department, to be specific, Prof. Pranab Sarkar, Dr. Bidhan Chandra Bag of Physical Chemistry, Prof. Alakananda Hazra of Organic Chemistry and Prof. Asim K Das, Dr. Motin Seikh of Inorganic chemistry department. The course curriculum are good. The level of the examination are relatively on easier side what I felt.

Night Life

5

Since the campus was within the Bolpur city, the life outside the classroom is very down to earth and students mix well with the society people very closely. There are many hangout places throughout the campus, like Amrakunja, Melar math and Gour prangan.

Placement Experience:

Computers are so vast that masters is mandatory and therefore I have certain plans for that. However big scale IT companies come here and students of Computer science Hons have had placements worth 6-10 lakhs easily. My plans are to appear for the job interviews but not taking any as I want to study more.

I currently in 2nd year, so I don't have much idea about placements that college offers. But have a brief idea on the besis of the seniors. My collage provides internships, and the average package is also good. From the sixth semester one can become eligible for internships. My plan is to study further, Msc and PhD.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum was well-structured, and each semester, there were projects and presentations that also helped to test our knowledge. I got influenced as the curriculum provides us with financial economics, political economics, and Applied mathematics. The level of the exams was decent, related to the course. They could improve in teaching more practical knowledge and projects related to that, instead of only learning in a theoretical way.

Placement Experience:

Placements and job oppurtinities are less since this is an undergraduate college offwering honours degree. Though there is a placement and career councelling cell that looks over this matter. Placements are offered only in a few subjects, such as industrial chemisrty and computer science. The rate of placements are very high and come with high packages. Though I am not interested in placements, but I have started taking preparations for compititive exams. Such preparations are very supported here, rather than jobs and placements.
