Calcutta University review

This is the best college I could have gotten. Because research infrastructure is best for Statistics here. But the placement is not that good.

The course is of 4 semesters. We are taught compulsory courses in the first year. The topics in 1st sem are real analysis,inference, sample survey, demography, linear algebra, linear models, probability The topics in the second sem are inference, probability, regression,time series We get to choose optional special papers from 3rd sem onwards. We do research projects in summer. And do another research project in 3rd sem. The course is excellent for the students who wants to do research in Statistics.

Our college is visited by Novartis HSBC bank Genpact Deloitte Bridge 2i 70% of students are placed on campus. We are given seminars and lectures for placements.

We celebrate teachers day Freshers Symposium Symposium is the largest Statistical congression in Kolkata.this is conducted after every thouree years. Many eminent professors and scientists come to this. Students from everywhere join to get to know the eminent personalities.

Fee Structure:500 rupees per month. Government aided. Feasible. Here only online payments are accepted. College has a fee book where the total fee structure is written in details. At the time of admission we pay for a semester. And after that we pay for each semester at the beginning of that sem.

I am getting a scholarship from state government. I secured above a minimum marks which was the requirement for the scholarship. I get 2500 rupees per month

We have 28 girls and 10 boys in our batch. So no gender bias is present here. Our college conducts games like football cricket etc. Many departments conduct many academic competition here. We have a cultural society called Calcutta Statistical association.

No I live near college so I didn't need hostel. The college hostels are not that good. Students prefer staying at PG nearby. The infrastructure in the hostel are not that good. Fees for hostel is minimal.

Many alumni is in usa teaching and researching and many are in ministry of statistics and program implementation.

I got admitted by qualifying the entrance exam which was conducted on 1st week of July. I want to do research and the academics in this university is marvelous in Statistics department so I opted this course. The registration starts in the end of July.

The faculties are very dedicated. Our normal classes are from 10:30am to 5 pm But professors take classes till 9:00pm if needed. Each of the professors do activitie research and have PhDs. We have total 8 professors in our department. All of them have ages between 40-50.
