Remarks

The college is best college's in India and I would recommend students to not be afraid of branches like metallurgy as these form the core of a country's economy and NIFFT has been doing that for the past 60 years.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course has been designed to accommodate industry standards. All the equipments present at the college are state of the art. An average day is neither chilled out jor very hectic. A college day starts at 9:30 and ends at 5:30 with a 1 hour kuch break and 1-2 free library periods.

Placement Experience

4

Till the year 2016, placement was 100%, bit recently, dur to the slowdown in indian automobile industry, placements have taken a toll. The college does not provide internship to outsiders. However, all the students of this college are able to procure internships in government facilities like NMDC, RINL and HEC.

College Events

3.5

Jinks Pranav is the joint cultural and technical fest of the college and one of the biggest fests in eastern India. A lot of colleges from around the country visit the fest. There are fashion shows, dance and music shows, business talks by industry men, business case events. In the past the likes of Mohit Chauhan have visited the college for final day of the fest.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fees is moderate and one of the lowest one can give for engineering. For all the batches starting till 2011, the annual fees was ~16000 including hostel fees, electricity. Now the fees has been hiked to ~40000 for the year, still one of the lowest. This is due to the fact that it is a centrally funded technical Institute. The fees has to be paid every semester and if you opt for scholarship most of it is reverted.

Fees and Financial Aid

Merit cum means scholarship is available for students whose parents have income less than 1LPA. Mostly, with the low yearly fees, loans are not really needed. There are other scholarships like TATA and SAIL.

Campus Life

3.5

Gender ratio is poor 12:1. Cultural societies are present for all the extracurricular fields like Dance, Music, Drama, Photography and a proper gymkhana is maintained by college authorities for the same. The students are tolerant towards the causes and run an NGO named Kartavya, teaching underprivileged kids' in their free time.

Hostel Facilities

4

For all the students who are selected, availing hostel is a must. Uptil 2nd year, the hostels are sharing rooms with 2-3 person accommodation, 3rd year onwards, Single room is provided. The facilities are new and have basic facilities like news paper room, TT, TV room, WiFi etc. The hostel fees is minimal and is included in college's fees.

Alumni/Alumna

Most of the placements are done with the help of seniors, which shows a good alumni network. There is an Alumni network, but currently it is defunct and is being revived by the current director. Alumni are placed at several high posts in good organisations like ISRO and DRDO and have a key role in making the name of college visible in the industry.

Admission

Admission process starts with giving AIEEE exam. based on the rank you attain you are allotted a college and a course. Average rank required to get any stream in NIFFT is 25000-35000. The institute was established by Indian government hourD ministry along with support from UNDP UNESCO to provide skilled labor for Metallurgy and Manufacturing industry. This college is only one of its type in the whole of Asia. I had the option of electrical engineering in another one of the CFTIs in Chattisgarh, but I choose this college due to its placement records and a great name in the industry.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty are expert in their respective field and have a good teaching record. Some of them are guest lecturers in prestigious IITs also. The faculty also helps out companies, which are associated with the college, in any difficulties and have a great industry reputation.

There are labs for each subject in which we get real world application knowledge. Also course is updated regularly as per the requirement of industry . The course can we improved by making course more practical rather than a writing all things on practical it should include project for students. Frequency of exam is that in every 15 days there is a exam with moderate to difficult level.

Placement Experience:

At BIT Mesra third is like full of practice for placements and final year more of placements activities than studies. So, when all these things are in order placements obviously will be more or less certain and here they are certain only with almost 90% students are places through campus with annual placements of 8-10 lakhs per annum.
