Remarks

Ours is a government college with good featues. The lab features are also good. The placement is also good. The college fees is also very low and the faculty is decent. The college ranking is 79 in India and 6th in west bengal. So, if you get a chance her

Entrance Preview

I cracked WEST BENGAL JOINT ENGINEERING ENTRANCE EXAMINATION (WBJEE) in the year 2013 and scored 40% marks in it. My score was 97 out of 250. Ours was a very tuff paper. So, the cutoff was low for that year. My general merit rank was 2876. My college is ranked 79 in india and it is also a government college with very low fees. Besides we have almost 100% placement with package around 3.5. It is also near my home. So, i took it.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course we follow is prescribed by MAKAUT (formely WBUT) and it same as that of all other colleges in west bengal. The curriculum is just ok. If one wants to prepare for GATE, then its not good at all. You have to check the GATE syllabus as its quite different.

Internships Opportunities

I have not done internship yet since it is done after the completion of 3 year. Nevertheless, i have asked many seniors and i will be writing their opinion. The internship they did was at BSNL and they told that it was not that kind of exposure as they had liked but it was ok.The stipend was 6,000 per month.

College Events

5

The college has its cultural fest ESPECTRO which is a great ocassion for everyone. The arrangement is basically done by hostelites and there is a great enthusiasm among candidates regarding this. This event is a grand ocassion along with the Union freshers where the entire college is invited and all show up also. The technical fest is also good. Quizzes, coding rounds , computer games like CS, FIFA etc. Are a few to say about. The robowin is a contest where autonomous robots and also manual ones compete in different rounds respectively. Festivals like Vishwakarma puja, saraswati puja are a few other joyful ocassions. We all enjoy these events.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The college fee is too cheap. Some students may find it cheaper than their school fees. For mechanical and electrical departmemts. Fee is 3000/semester For Electonics & Telecommunication and Computer Science departmemts. Fee is 6000/semester For Information technology department, Fee is 12000/semester. For all departments, examination fee is 1000/ semester At the time of admission, around 4000 is to be paid along with 1st semester fees. Thus, you can see its way too cheap.

Fees and Financial Aid

One good scholarship is FOUNDATION FOR EXCELLENCE.The college also provides freeship and half-freeship for students with low income.

Campus Life

5

Gender ratio is not good around 7:1 or even more. (Boys:Girls) .Workshops and labs. are good with good facilities. Often quizzes, cricket matches, football matches, volleyball matches take place.Debates are also held during English Labs once in a week and are a wonderful experience indeed. Our college has great robotics exposure with seminars, training , competition and other events taking place regularly. There are some days like hostel inaugaration day, college inaugaration day where students participate to make the events successful. There is no discrimination anywhere based on race, religion, gender, etc. All students enjoy equal rights.

Hostel Facilities

4

There are 5 hostels. 1 separate for 1st year boys, 1 for girls and 3 for 2nd, 3rd and 4th year boys combined. The mess charge is around 1800/month for food. The hostel rent is 1000 per year. In first year hostel, in one room 5 boys stay. In rest of the

Alumni/Alumna

The college seniors are helpful and also alumni are good. Some of those working in foreign do come here to organise seminars for us. They also help us with placement querries.

Exam Structure

We have two internals for each subject and then we have our lab. Exams followed by our semester exams. The schedule is such that we don't have that pressure and we being engineering students and college also being government college, bunking is usual.

Faculty

4

The faculty is decent. The permanent teachers are great but the temporary ones aren't just worth. But you won't find good teachers today.

I’d rate HIT’s placement opportunities as 7.5/10 overall. It’s very good for CSE, IT, and ECE, decent for Electrical and core branches, and improving every year with more companies visiting and better preparation programs. If you’re skilled and consistent — especially in coding, communication, and aptitude — you’ll almost certainly get placed before graduatin

7th semester is when the students get to sit for placements. I am not sure about the total no of companies visited but I am aware of the name of few companies like IBM Infosys Wipro Capsitech Tech Mahindra cognizant etc . Mostly the girls are 100 percent placed cause there is diversity hiring. Mass recruiters is what visit our campus mostly.. I personally would look for a job after graduation highest package offered displayed by college is 75 lpa but I don't think so it is real. Maybe someone had worked hard and got placed off campus. On campus highest isbi guess 12-14 lpa

Course Curriculum Overview:

- I choose Data Science as it is new to my college when comparing with the other branches. The curriculum is just okay it is not per industry standards but if students deep drives in each aspects then they are likely to crack GATE exams. - The whole curriculum needs and improvement from the very 1st Year and removal of irrelevant subjects like Discrete Mathematics, Electonics, Biology for IT branches are required. - Semester exams are conducted every 6 months and CTs are conducted every 2 months
