Remarks

Overall a good goverment college with a good reputation and the placement scenario is increasing day by day and good companies are visiting the campus with good packages with highest package being offered by Amazon of 30 LPA so instead of choosing any private college, choose UIET if your rank permits here you will grow not only technically but socially as well.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Course curriculum is not that upgraded with the current scenario especially if you compare it with CSE branch's curriculum then it does lag behind in many ways, Mostly the schedule was chilled there is no as such pressure from the faculty one can enjoy college life thoughrly, labs are twp days in a 5 day week.

Placement Experience

4

Yes, there are alot of companies which provides internship like Infosys, Deloitte, standard chartered, amazon, samsung, Goldman Sachs, jugnoo, KPMG, SRF, gemini solutions, mu sigma, Accenture, joah techno group, bechtel are some of the good companies that visit the college and the average package offered is 5 -7 LPA and in internship the average stipend offered is 15000 per month.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Its a govt college funded by punjab, Haryana and Central govt. Earlier fees used to be around 70000 per year but recently it has been increased and now its around 80000 per year for every branch, in terms of fee structure i would say its less than NITs and IITs. Also there are different kind of scholarships available for merituous students.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are alot of scholarships like for BPL students the entire fees is forfeited and for one girl child also there is a quota so scholarships can be availed based on the criteria, there are different schemes being run by central govt. also.

Campus Life

3.5

There is no ragging culture and people are friendly and Chandigarh life you will enjoy as there is lot of greenry, less traffic etc as you are a student of Panjab University so entire University facilities are for you be it a big size gym, a cricket ground, a Olympic level swimming pool, shooting range, alumni house, hostels, University annual fests, student centre etc.

Hostel Facilities

4

Yes, I used to live in a hostel, hostel charges are around 6000 for six months including high speed internet, common TV room, electricity, water, maintainence extra, hostel rooms are double sharing and are allocated based upon your JEE rank. That means not everyone will get the hostel as their is a cutoff for hostel too, if you opt for PG outside the campus then you will have to loose your wallet by around 7000 per month depends upon ho many people you are sharing the room.

Alumni/Alumna

Yes, they are helpful but it depends on you really that how much value do you give to your connections they do help you in the placement season, they help you in every manner possible and notes and booka can be asked for from them, its important to maintain a good relationship with your seniors throughout your course.

Admission

The admission process happens through JEE main, and you have to sit in common counselling for Chandigarh colleges which includes colleges like PEC, UIET, UICET, CCET, I chose IT based on my JEE rank and rather going to a lower branch in PEC bi opted for UIET as its also a govt. College.

Faculty

3

Faculty is average, some profs are really experienced but they don't take interest in teaching so in the end one has to rely on himself, rather it depends on the branch also as in other branches there were more senior and experienced teachers and they do Take pain to make you study hard.

Some students usually the top 10 percenrt students get high packages north of 15 lakhs and some even get 35-70 lakhs. but this number is very small and most students get around 4-10 lpa. around 60 to 70 percent students get placed combining on and off campus placements.

The whole curriculum focuses on the cramming power, not on the practical knowledge. Students have to do the tech stack on their own for the placements. Students must do the internship so that he/she will gain some practical knowledge and a chance to gain hands-on experience.
