Remarks

The college infrastructure is not very good. Lacks basic cleanliness in some places. But overall the infrastructure is quite satisfying. Got good amount of exposure from the diverse network of students, seniors and teachers.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

The curriculum is variable and is quite balanced recently. Covers all basic to bring all branch students on common knowledge base and then curriculum changes based on required subjects for that branch. Not so hectic for some branches. But for some, it was very hectic.

Placement Experience

3

Yes, my college provides placements and job opportunities but most of them are related to IT domain companies. Not much core companies for ECE, Electrical, Mechanical, Biotech etc. College has Design and Innovation centre, which is funded by MHRD. Provides stipend for research projects and is good for industry experience.

College Events

4

Not much anticipated events were there in our college. GOONJ, the cultural fest of our college includes various cultural activities and competitions including dancing, singing and Start Guest performances by renowned Punjabi Artists(mostly singers)

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure is feasible. Fees is around 35000/semester for general category students. Separate relaxations are given to students of reserved categories and sports quota students. Many students including me preferred Educational Loans.

Fees and Financial Aid

College provides scholarships to students scoring excellent marks in the college curriculum. For students with extraordinary akills and knowledge, the college also supports them financially for higher studies.

Campus Life

3.5

Gender ratio is balanced in Panjab University, with students from various regions throughout India and some Foreign exchange students. Labs are there practical teachings and research work for students and teachers.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni network is not as good as it could be. But it has started becoming better. Alumni network is improving very well with the good work of Alumni affairs committee. Some of my seniors us about the field of robotics. It was very helpful at that stage. Now they are working in renowned companies in the field of robotics.

Admission

Selection is based on JEE Mains rank. Nees to apply through JAC for the same. Three rounds of selection based on rank, then there is the spot round. I chose my course with interest. Anyhow, got an option between CSE and ECE. My JEE rank was not much good. It was around 58000. CSE cutoff is generally around 5000. I hot CSE in a different campus but decided to go with ECE.

Faculty

3

Many teachers are teaching multiple subjects. My Computer networks teacher also taugh me about Microprocessors. And another one taught, Digital Signal Processing and Computer architecture. Teachers are qualified and have good knowledge about their subject but some of them are more focused on completing the syllabus.

Placement Experience:

Since the first batch of VLSI is yet to be placed I would take example of ECE for reference. Out of 110 students which sat for placements , 91 got placed , median of 13 lakh with avergae of 16 lakh and 61 lakh highest on campus. These are of 24-25 and this year placements are better as even apple visited us after an hiatus of 3 years. In core electronics , Samsung Rnd , TATA electronics , Cadence , Micron etc visited for tech , UKG , PhonePay , Oracle , Accenture etc vist in consulting and finance , Mckinsey , JP Morgan , GoldmanSachs , AmericanExpress visit. After my btech I plan to do a job.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would rate the course plan around 7 out of 10 in terms of relevance and depth. I chose this course mainly because it includes core tech subj like DSA, DBMS, OS, AI and cloud, which are useful for jobs in tech field. The presence of lab work and proj based learning also influenced my choice. The curriculum gives a fair base in theory and basic prac skills. It helps in campus place prep and also builds base for higher study like MTech or MS. But real world skill still depends a lot on self study, online course and side proj. Some topics feel updated, but a few subj are still too theory heavy and not linked to real case use. Exams are held twice as mid test and once as end term in each sem. There are also quiz, viva and lab eval. The level is moderate. If you attend class and revise notes, it is manageable. For improve, more live proj, hack event, ind visit and case study should be added. Teach method should shift more to code demo and less slide read
