Remarks
Government must have to look a way out for the bright future of cotton. They should have fill the vacancy and provide fund for infrastructure development. It is one of the best college for higher secondary and graduation level but it still have work on infrastructure for the PG students. They have a very good track record of NAAC, got A+ ranking. Cotton have very good exposure for the students who want to work in the sports, literature and cultural fields.
Course Curriculum Overview
The syllabus of the course is well covered of various important topics with a paper of English Reading and Writing Skill which is mandatory to pass each of the semesters. The post graduate course is of 4 semesters. Each semester has 5 subject papers and a English paper.
Placement Experience
There is a placement cell which is only just for name. As far as i know they don't provide any opportunities to students. No, internship doesn't provided here. I have a very warm experience in Cotton if i take the count on personality development. Cotton is rich in literature study and cultural programs. Many students of Cotton are in the posts of very high rank in the civil service of Assam and in the ministry of Assam. I got only a scholarship for being a OBC student and no other stipend as a student.
College Events
It will be a long list if I include every event. Some of these are 1)Republic Day 2) Varsity Week 3)Saraswati Puja 4)Foundation Day 5)Departmental Fresher's social and general fresher's social 6)MCB Debate 7)Lachit Divas 8) Cotton festival etc. And many more events based on debates, quiz, Literature and cultural competition etc. They have been organising many national workshops and debates on the courtyard of Cotton.
Fee Structure And Facilities
It is very feasible among all of the government universities of Assam. It's admission fee is around 4000-6000 INR per year which is very less in respective to other universities. The fee of form fill up of examination of PG course is around 1100-1300 and the participation fee in workshop is not more than 100 if they choose to take.
Fees and Financial Aid
In my knowledge they have no loan facility available. But they provide stipend to few of the scholars from the Research and Development fund. Moreover some of my major mates got micro research scholarship of Rs 3000 per student. There is a scheme of admission fee waive of economically poor students. They can take admission in free of cost.
Campus Life
Cotton is rich in sports and extracurricular activities. They have earned many prizes by participating in various competitions held in different universities of outside Assam. They have been producing quality students for life. In Physics Department it has very good facility of laboratory for Graduate students but for PG students there are lack of instruments which they need to perform a bunch of experiments.
Alumni/Alumna
Senior students are very helpful if we need any help in any field, either it is if course or outside of course. There is an alumni house inaugurated in june, 2019. In my knowledge they have a fraternity of alumni and doing some works for the benefit of Cotton. I don't have personal experience with their alumni network. Department of Physics are going to organise a alumni meet of physics students on 22 February, 2020.
Admission
To take admission in post graduate course, one has to pass the entrance exam with minimum 50% in graduation. After that, they publish a list of selected candidates to take admission on a particular date. 50% of the total seats is reserved for the students who graduated from Cotton University on the basis of percentage and 50% is reserved for the students come from different universities on the basis of entrance exam.
Faculty
They are efficient in their respective fields but still there are vacancy of professors post around 150. Admission and examination branch should be more respectful to their works. Professors of physics department are very friendly and helpful in understanding the course.
