One of the renowed college in West bengal IIEST Shibpur

Placements here are abysmal if you consider the quality of students here. People talk about its alumni base and let me clear your mind. I think this place has one of the least bothered Alumni. They talk about there 150 years glory but cannot even help the current students to get placed at a good company where they work. Mass Recruiters come in abundance though. I think this is where most alumni are working.

The educational environment here is the best for students who want to work hard and study. The facaulty is good but people from other states might face a prolem initially because of the accent of teachers but will cope up soon with it.Teachers are very helpful and knowledgeable.

Current placement stats might not be attractive but since 2014 its getting better and better so just dont worry about it because the college has already came a long way and is in the list of top engineering institues of India. It has signed a lot of contracts with different organisations and companies and the campusing is great!

The tuition fees is Rs 62500 per semester for a student. However, it is waived for students belonging to SC and ST categories. It is also waived for students with family income less than 1 lpa. it is quite expensive than state govt colleges

The college offered scholarships facilities for the students who were unable to bear the fees. The scholarship were also given by state government to the students based on their financial status, then to those belonging to the reservation caste based students. The student need to fill the form and get it approved by the HOD of their respective departments and then forward it to the finance department of the college where further steps were taken to the scholarship for the students.

I had opted for hostel Hostels 8, 9 and 10 are allotted to first years. There are 4 levels (including the ground level) and the terrace. There are two kinds of rooms, 4-occupancy room and 5-occupancy rooms. Every student is provided with a bed (without bedding), a cupboard, a table and a power socket. While the 5-occupancy rooms each also have a private balcony. The overall quality is decent.

I got admission in this college through my JEE mains Examination rank. It is NIT college which takes admission on the basis of JEE main rank which is all india exam coducted by NTA. for my rank i got addmison in civil branch.
