Remarks
Pros - Very less fees, alumni network is great, Placement offers are great, Student unity, Freedom of attendance. Cons - Outdated methods of teaching, Poor infrastructure, The results is declared very late, Campus is very dirty.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is quite good. The unnecessary subjects are not included in the curriculum. Also the exam pattern is easy. We have two class tests of 30 marks each which is averaged and semester exam of 100 marks which is scaled to 70 marks and combined with class tests marks. For laboratory there is marks for every attendance and cumulative performance. Instead of final exam, a Viva is taken.
Placement Experience
The placement opportunities is quite good. Almost every student gets atleast one offer. Yes the college provides internships for students in third year. The stipend depends on the company one gets chance to work with.
College Events
We have our cultural fest, sanskriti ,a nine day long fest organized at the main campus. Srijan, tech fest, is organized at salt lake campus. The events has amazing prizes and is open for all. No participation fee is to promote maximum participation.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Very feasible. The fee structure is almost nill. You pay just 10k for your whole engineering of four years. This is the minimum one can guess and you are greatly relieved of hefty education loans. Also there is no compromise in education quality for such low fees.
Fees and Financial Aid
There are many good scholarships available specially for students from tution fees wavier and other category. But for general students no such scholarships is available. The forms for such scholarships is declared in the official website of Jadavpur University.
Campus Life
The labs lack mordern equipment. The equipment are old and rugged. But still it works fine. The best thing is at lab there is no final exam but a Viva is taken. The sports culture is fine. Usually the students from sports quota are into sports. Many Inter- University championships are played. We have a team of American football. For other extracurricular activities there are clubs organized by seniors.
Alumni/Alumna
We have a strong alumni network which help us greatly in placements. The seniors are very helpful. They organize various events and workshops in clubs. The communication is lacking , but if efforts are made by Juniors the help is guaranteed.
Admission
My general merit rank was 111 in wbjee. The admission process is quite simple. You need to apply for wbjee's online counseling. Once you get the seat in any branch of your choice, you need to report to University(tequip building) to submit the documents finally.
Faculty
The faculty is quite knowledgeable and easy to approach. There is a understanding and respect for teacher-student relationship. You can your doubts anytime and they would clear the doubts. Also they provide chance to work with them on various topics apart from course curriculum.
