Remarks

The college is very good. Didn't get A++ in NAAC for nothing. It's clean and tidy. The rules are followed properly. There are CCTV cameras everywhere. The classes start on right time. We don't have to face any problems in the office too. The exams are conducted very smoothly and we get the routine for exam months before the exam.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum is broad and advanced. Our college is under the Calcutta University but the syllabus is more vast than other colleges under Calcutta University. We go through semester systems with two semesters per year. Each semester consists of a midterm exam otherwise known as CIA ( Continuous Internal Accessment) and final exam at the end of the semester. The 100 marks in a paper are broken down into 3 parts. 1) 15 marks from CIA 2) 80 marks from Final exam 3) 5 marks from Attendance

Placement Experience

4

The placement and job opportunities are great in our college. The B.Com department befits from most of these because as a science student we don't go for a job just after B.Sc. Yes our college provides internship but I didn't opt for it as I want to go to IIT after graduation so I don't know much about it.

College Events

5

Our college celebrates events throughout the year. It starts of with Xavotsav and Beyond Barriers which is the biggest event in our college where many celebrities come and perform on stage. Then every department has it's own event. Like we in Mathematics have Analytica which is almost like a seminar where well known professors around the country to give a lecture on some topic. Some students are also given chance to give lecture. Then there's a fest for Bengalis called Xavollas, a fest for the tribal people called Adivasi Diwas and also Bourne fire.

Fee Structure And Facilities

It's a little expensive for the lower middle class family but is feasible for the higher middle class family. But there's also the concession for the families who couldn't afford the expenses. So I would say that the fees is balanced for everyone.

Fees and Financial Aid

I get the Inspire scholarship from the government. So I can't apply for any other scholarships as per the terms and conditions. So I didn't gather any information regarding the scholarships in our college.

Campus Life

4.5

There are 4 labs in our college. 1) Chemistry lab 2) Physics lab 3) Biology lab 4) Computer lab All of them are well equipped with best tools available. We also have a telescope. The sports day is fun. Each department participate in the banner competition. We make a banner related to our field and the whole department marches with those. There are different types of competition among the students , professors and also staff members.

Hostel Facilities

4

I live in the hostel. The infrastructure is very good and also the fathers living with us. It's very disciplined and secure premise with CCTV cameras everywhere. We have a tv room, a games room , a chapel in the hostel. But the food is not so great.

Alumni/Alumna

Senior students are always helpful. Whether in college or in hostel regarding any matter the best person to approach are the last year seniors. They know everything. I myself got tremendous help from them in my last 2 years of college. Alumnis are kind of out of reach from all the students. Only some people know how to connect with them.

Admission

There's an online portal for application where we have to fill up forms regarding my name , address , class 12 pass certificate and marks obtained in each paper. Then after 1~2 months they make a merit list. I was on it. So I got admission.

Faculty

4.5

Faculties are very student friendly and are always available to help any student. We can also avail the phone number of any professor and ask a doubt over phone. There are also cabins beside the teacher's room where a student or a group can talk or discuss with a professor.

Placement Experience:

People who major in my department usually opt for masters over placement not because of this college but because overall industrial or academic opportunities are better with a pg degree. Masters from this college is not recommended as i have heard so from my seniors. Some of my seniors managed to crack competitives and secure MSc seats at great places. Training and Placement cell had a good coordinator previously but now its almost non existent. Companies do come and hire Bpharm, Mpharm and MSc candidates. Packages are below average. Only Nestle pays well. But if you do well you'll eventually climb up the corportate ladder. From the time i am here i have not heard of any BSc candidate getting placed. Most go for higher studies.

Placement Experience:

The average package offered for such roles ranges between ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package offered to a BSc student is around ?4 LPA, depending on skills and specialization. Overall, around 15–20% of BSc students get placed through campus drives, and many students rely on off-campus opportunities.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum was well thought out as per me but there were subjects that i found absolutely unnecessary. Subjects like history evs and clc were in no way related to my course. Coming to the main subjects Design, Printing, Photography and film and Media Training were absolutely necessary for my course and whilst the faculty for some of these subjects were really bad, some were good. It is also important to mention none of these subjects actually helped us prepare for the real world. Instead internships and freelance helped us more than these subjects could ever do. Exams were held bi monthly to keep track of what we learnt and every 6 months we had our semester exams. Overall if you want to be a media professional INTERNSHIPS AND JOBS WILL HELP YOU MORE THAN A COLLEGE WILL. I am biased on this opinion as my college didnt provide me with the correct guidance and support i needed to make it in the real world.

Placement Experience:

In case of computer science department, placement is provided at the Last year of M.sc course. Many companies like Wipro, b10x, Tata visited here. Highest package ever is three lakh per annum. 20-40% of the students got placement after completing M.Sc computer science. My plan after B.sc is to pursue MCA.

Course Curriculum Overview:

* It's all about practical knowledge, we are getting from this course and another aspect is if you wants to make your career in research or lecturer then you should go for it. *No changes required in teaching methods but if college will provide hostel facilities and campus requirement drive, then it will better for candidates.
