Mtech in SPML in NIT Surathkal

The best thing about NITK compared to other colleges is It owns a beach. The only college in India to have its own beach. The negative part is the weather is humid and hot. The weather will be either sunny or rainy. Students need to carry an umbrella anytime in the college.

The course curriculum is a bit tiring. Too much to study. Daily you have to give biometric 2 times. The professors are a little scary but you can get used to it. In first semester you will have 4 core subjects, 2 electives among which you have to select at least one core subjects, and one seminar. Each subject will have 50 credit points. In second semester you will have 3 core and 1 elective. In second year you will only have major projects. Exams are a bit hard since the professors will not teach you much you have to prepare on your own.

The mtech placements for my college are a bit low. The maximum companies will prefer the graduate students than post graduate. So you have to work hard to get placed. The internship programs are high in our college compared to other colleges. The professors will be helpful to get into internships. The stipend for mtech students is as decided by the central government. For further stipend you have to apply personally.

In NIT Surathkal there will be an event every month. You can completely enjoy the campus and fests. The infrastructure is quite good. The clubs in the college will encourage you to persue your hobby, sports and arts etc.

The fee structure is feasible if you are from a upper middle class family. There is no fee concession for SC/ ST students. The fee structure for 1st year: 1,50,000 for college and tuition fee. 52,000 for mess fee. Same follows for second year.

There will be a SBI bank and CANARA bank in the campus. The loan facilities are provided as per the SBI study loan norms. Every one the college must possess a SBI bank account in order to get stipend and scholarship.

Extra curricular activities are quite good in our college. There will be clubs for each sports and other activities like debates, dance,music,literature etc. Every club will operate on it's own. There will trainer for sports and Swimming. Gym, NCC and other facilities are also available.

The hostel rooms are a bit old but comfortable. The food you will like it in the beginning but won't like it after a while. The food is just OK. you will have separate mess for vegetarians and non vegetarians.

The seniors are interactive and sessions are also conducted to interact with them. The alumni of NITK is very huge and they will attend for any huge events in the college. They share their experiences in internship in IRIS (The official portal for students and administration of NITK) portal.

Through Gate exam. After I completed my gate exam I enrolled in CCMT mtech counseling and according to merit in gate score, I got admission in this NIT Surathkal in Signal Processing and Machine learning.

The faculty are talented and full of knowledge but you have to go forward and ask for help. Until then you cannot get any additional information about the subject. You should not hurt the ego of faculty at any point.
