Remarks

VJTI is one of the oldest college in India. In the past it was extremely good. But in recent years it's name and value has decreased a bit. The main reason is lack of infrastructure and poor faculty. Most of the professors teach for the sake of teaching. Our branch mostly has profs on contract basis or assigns courses to M.Tech students. There is lack of innovation and ideas in them. Hardware and software facilities in VJTI are old and slow.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

In my opinion, course curriculum is bit old and out of date. It needs to be revised according to new needs in industry. Hardly anything which you learn in curriculum is useful after passing out of college. It fails to prepare us for corporate world. Being autonomous college, exam papers in VJTI are tougher than Mumbai University. There is at least 1 day holiday after each paper. But the exam gets over within 2.5 weeks max.

Placement Experience

3.5

There is almost 100% placements for undergrads. No matter how you perform in curriculum, you will get some job or other after 4 years. Average package for CS and IT branch is above average. Internship opportunities are there in the vacation of 3rd year. But not all students can get it

College Events

3.5

Technovanza - it's Technical Fest of VJTI. It's amazing and very competitive. There are Guest Lectures by top personalities in India, workshops, Robo wars and other competitions. Enthusia - it's Sports fest of VJTI. It's inaugurated by a top sports personality in India. Students from all over Maharashtra participate in it. Pratibimb - it's cultural fest of VJTI. There are dance, singing, elocution completions and guest lectures by renowned arts people from India

Fee Structure And Facilities

Very very cheap. Fee for entire year was 65000 for all 4 years. It's almost half of other private colleges in Mumbai. For OBC and other reserved caste, it is even lesser. Apart from that there are scholarships for needy.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are scholarships available for underprivileged and below poverty line students. There are tution fee waiver schemes for students who can't pay fees. Along with this, hostel fee waiver is also available for needy students.

Campus Life

2

VJTI has football, basketball, volleyball and cricket grounds. Along with this carom, chess and Table Tennis are available in Gymkhana. 'Enthusia' is sports fest of VJTI and is quite good and famous. Almost all of the machinery in labs is old and needs replacement.

Alumni/Alumna

Seniors are very helpful. They helped us in curriculum as well as co curriculum activities. You can talk to any senior about doubts / insecurities or ask them for guidance. Alumni network is good too.

Admission

I got admission in VJTI on the basis of cumulative score of JEE Mains and 12th Board (HSC) examination. As it is a top college in India, the cut offs are quite high and it's very competitive. I had to wait till 3rd round to get into EXTC Branch.

Faculty

2

Poor. There are hardly any professors who know what they are teaching and why they are teaching a particular thing. Most of them teach to finish the syllabus. There is hardly any Innovation or new ideas. Some of them don't even know the concepts. They just read from books and write on board. Paper checking is not good as well. There are totalling errors or unchecked questions almost everytime.
