Nothing as such, usually everything is upto expectations

Placement opportunities in the campus and highest package

the placements are good, can't say exceptional but there are plenty of internship opportunities and educational seminars which are conducted. The avg package is 6-7l pa and the highest package has been14l pa up until now. A lot of good companies approach our college and give placements

What are the internship opportunities in the campus?

There are alot of internship opportunities provided by the college and each semister is assigned with a project that we have to submit by the end of the sem. All the branches can either take up their own course internship or the internship with some different course as per your knowledge. You can always approch the linkedIn links to internships which are also provided by the college.

All the subjects converd and appointed to the branch help in real world application. We are taught different programming languages for each sem. Tests are conducted efficiently and we are assigned projects each year and each sem alsong with hands on practical lab lectures and theory lectures.

Various facilities and fests of the college

My overall experience has been amazing. I have genuinely enjoyed my college life , including all the fests, clubs,committees and the campus. All the events are exceptionally good , leaving you with tons of memorie4s and the crowd is all decently nice including the open canteen facility and the labs .It has truly been a journey aka a Engineering life i will never want to end

Faculty and learning experience in the campus

The faculty is amazing and upto the mark. The teaching experience is also exceptional for all the branches. The faculty changes each sem and we have different teaching staff for each subject. Some teachers might be strict but all in all they are very proficient in the work and always available to help you out and clear your doubts.

Admission

I went for this college majorly due the the courses offered, the opportunity to get a minors and honors degree. The campus, the crowd and the cultural, sports and tech fests that take place. All in all it is an journey that i would want to remember of a life time

Night Life

The nightlife is lively, Our college is open 24/7 , giving access to it's amazing and resourceful library. Our hostel is just beside our college hence students can use the college library facility whenever they require. The locality is quite safe and there is a seperate hostel part for boys and girl. I personally love the open canteen and the ground labs for IT, along with the high floor corridors which provide an amazing view of the entire locality

K J Somaiya College is incomparable!!

Admission:

I applied at Narsee Monjee and i also was invited for the second counselling. However, its too far from my house and therefore, i took admission here as i am from Ghatkopar and this college is like 10 mins ride in my scooter. Admissions are based on 12th marks and cut-off for students from Maharashtra was 86% in 2024 and i had secured 89.

I got 86.80% in SSC and being from General category it is hard to get a top class college to study at 86.80%. But fortunately after 3 lists i got Somaiya and enrolled at it. While being rejected from colleges like Kelkar, MCC, HR, KC etc.

I couldnt apply to many colleges, since my score wasnt upto mark. This college was like a second chance. I have seen students with marks as low as ground accepted into this college. Admission is altough completely merit based, just with less marks there is a possibility of not securing your wanted branch.

An Extract of My Experience at KJ Somaiya for MCOM

Likes

Infrastructure is really good and since u get access to all the sports like 20 by 20 chess ground, football basketball and almost all the games.
People are nice, faculties are nice, but admin office employees are very rude. they have really great collection of books in library and there are a lots of libraries within the campus.
I really like the campus, basically u've almost got every sport, its very good opportuny for atheletics, campus is really really beautiful.

Dislikes

Admin staff is very rude, their break is like SBI lunch break, never ends, and u've to cooperate and very rude staff overall, not teahcers tough.

Admission:

I initially applied for 4 colleges SIES nerul, and Pillai Panvel, and St. Xavier College, and Somaiya. and I got confirmed admission in 3 of them except Xavier, I chose Somiay only because of its campus and soprts opportunites, like really great opportunity if u r into sopirts and other curricular activities, it has chess, football absket ball and what not. I got rejected at Xavier since I was late in submitting a form and I didnt wanted to wait a whole year to get admission there. so I choes somaiya. So admission process is very simple (atleast online) so we have to fill admission form online, and we have to got to college with some other documents like Aadhar card copy, and other details provided in the form, and if u are bcom passed out they will accept or any other bacholar degree, mostly Bcom students carry this course. However my offline expericen was really ewally really bad, they were so rude, the admin office employee, if u want admission reserve a full day for ur admission, they will make sure it will worsen. just make sure to not carry cash they only accept bank payment, and dont bush around just go to admin office and ask them where to submit the form, dont go at around 1 PM. u can go around 11 AM and most prolly it will be done, unless if the sir is absent. overall very bad experice on my first day of admisioin

I liked overall environment and the teaching staff.
And the campus is too good to be true as it makes us feel more like spending our time there.

Dislikes

Mostly there is no such thing that I specifically dislike.

Admission:

The admission process there is very simple as students get selected on a merit based level and we did't have to opt for any entrance exam as such. the overall environment of the college is very good and the staff there is also very helpful. I did not apply for any other college as my preferance was this college only.

i had applied in vidyalankar and sabo siddque. i got accepted i sabo siddue but i choose somaiya college because campus and placment are excellent in somaiya. i got rejected from vidyalankar college due to insufficient aggregate in diploma the admission process for it course is easy just apply for course at somiaya website and the course will be alloted based on merit of exam you have given

KJ Somaiya does not follow a relative grading system.

Before answering your question let's discuss how to calculate the grade of a particular subject. Every subject has its own credits which are preassigned (1,2,3 etc.). For example

1. If you scored 90 in math 1, then you'll get a 10 grade point ( anything above 85 gives you 10 grade points).
2. The next step is to multiply the grade point and credits (ie. 10*4=40).
3. Next add up the results for all the subjects.

Calculation of CGPA= Added result of all subjects/maximum possible grade point*credit total.

So we can say that securing a 9+ pointer is fairly easy in the First Year at KJ Somaiya. All you need is an average of around 80-85% in semesters and you'll be above the 9-pointer mark.

What branch can I get in SP or KJ Somaiya with 140 in the MH CET 2022?

You can get any branch at KJ Somaiya with 140 in MH CET 2022, if you have Gujrati minority. But if you are a general category student, getting branches like CSE/IT will be difficult with 140 scores. These are among the most opted branches and KJ Somaiya Cutoff remains above 150-160 for CSE/IT (general category).
