IIT Delhi's B.Tech + M.Tech in Chemical Engineering offers a strong placement record with many top companies visiting, and the highest package can go up to 4 Cr, which is impressive. The internship stipends are also quite lucrative, ranging from 50K to 2L per month. In contrast, IIT Kharagpur's B.Tech in Instrumentation Engineering has a decent placement scene, with an average package around 16 LPA and options for core and non-core jobs, but it lacks the same level of high-profile offers as IIT Delhi. If you're aiming for top-tier placements and want a diverse range of opportunities, IIT Delhi would be the better choice. However, if you prefer a more balanced workload with the ability to explore various career paths, IIT Kharagpur might suit you better.

IIT Delhi's B.Tech + M.Tech in Chemical Engineering offers a solid return on investment with high placement rates, especially given that top companies like Jane Street come for recruitment with packages reaching 4 Crore. However, the teaching methods and hostel food quality seem to be drawbacks. On the other hand, IIT Kharagpur's B.Tech in Instrumentation Engineering provides a decent curriculum and opportunities for internships, but the average package is lower, around 16 LPA. Considering fees are similar and placement opportunities are better at IIT Delhi, I'd recommend going for IIT Delhi if you're aiming for a higher ROI and better job prospects, while IIT Kharagpur might be a safer choice if you prefer a more balanced workload and campus life.

IIT Delhi for B.Tech + M.Tech in Chemical Engineering has a strong faculty base with many professors holding PhDs from abroad, but the teaching methods may not be the best, possibly affecting your learning experience. The campus life is vibrant with good facilities, but the mess food is quite poor. On the other hand, IIT Kharagpur's B.Tech in Instrumentation Engineering offers a more balanced curriculum, allowing flexibility for internships and research opportunities, and the placement scene seems robust as well. Both colleges have high placement rates, with IIT Delhi boasting packages up to 4 Cr, but IIT Kharagpur also has a solid average package around 16 LPA. Personally, if you prioritize a comprehensive learning experience with decent flexibility and a better overall student life, I'd lean towards IIT Kharagpur; however, if you're keen on the prestige and potential high payoffs in Chemical Engineering, IIT Delhi could be the way to go.

IIT KGP's instrumentation engineering is a circuit branch, and you'll find plenty of opportunities there.

  • Consider IIT D EP as your second choice.
  • Then, go for IIT D Chemical Engineering.
  • IIT Mandi CSE is also a solid option, but stick with the above choices first!

Only you can decide what’s best for you! If you’re open to options, here’s my take:

  • IIT KGP Instrumentation Engineering >
  • IIT D Engineering Physics >
  • IIT D Chemical Engineering.

Instrumentation is an excellent branch, but it really depends on your interests and career goals!
