IIT Delhi is definitely a better choice, not just because it's closer to home, but because you don't have a specific interest. In that case, IIT Delhi is the best option for you!
Here’s why:
So, if you’re unsure about your path, IIT Delhi is the way to go!
Short Answer - Choose IIT KGP CSE!
Long Answer - If you have a genuine interest in Electrical Engineering (heavy workload, lots of math), then go for IITB. If not, don’t. IITD Mathematics and Computing is a solid option only if you truly love math and plan to pursue a career in finance, data science, or research. Many students have successfully transitioned to MFE after completing Mathematics and Computing. Remember, while BITS CSE is excellent, it shouldn't factor into your decision here.
It really comes down to your priorities and future aspirations.
That’s the main difference I can identify. Research, higher studies, business administration, and civil services are options available across all streams.
Getting admission to either of these IITs won’t make much of a difference since they are both among the top colleges in India. They offer nearly equal opportunities in terms of extracurricular activities, personality development, placements, and higher studies.
Being in Delhi or Mumbai can provide the vibe of a metropolitan city. Delhi has an advantage if you plan to prepare for civil services (IAS) or engineering services (IES) in the future.
Ultimately, it should depend on your field of interest, the subjects you enjoy, and where you envision your future. Hope this helps!
IIT Delhi's B.Tech Mathematics and Computing offers a rigorous curriculum that dives deep into high-level mathematics and computer science, making it ideal for those who love math and aim for careers in tech or finance, with impressive placements and high stipends from quant firms. On the other hand, IIT Kharagpur's B.Tech Aerospace Engineering has a strong reputation and likely offers great opportunities in the aerospace sector, but the specifics on placements and campus life aren't as robust as those for IIT Delhi.
While both colleges provide excellent faculty and vibrant campus life, if you're passionate about mathematics and want to leverage that in the tech or finance sectors, I'd personally pick IIT Delhi over IIT Kharagpur.
IIT Delhi's B.Tech in Mathematics and Computing shines with its strong focus on tech and finance, offering excellent internship opportunities in quant firms and tech giants, with top stipends reaching 20 lakhs for international offers. In contrast, while IIT Kharagpur's B.Tech in Aerospace Engineering has its merits, especially in a niche field, it doesn't quite match the high placement stats and diverse job prospects that IIT Delhi offers. Last year, IIT Delhi boasted a staggering 93% placement rate with lucrative packages, making it a clear choice for those aiming for the highest-paying roles.
If you're passionate about mathematics and want a dynamic career in tech or finance, go for IIT Delhi; but if you have a strong interest in aerospace and are okay with potentially fewer high-paying job prospects, IIT Kharagpur could still be a good fit.
IIT Kharagpur, Kharagpur
