IIT Delhi's B.Tech in Engineering Physics offers a well-structured curriculum that aligns with industry needs and a vibrant campus life with numerous clubs and societies, making it an excellent choice for those who enjoy research and collaboration. The faculty is highly qualified, with a good student-to-faculty ratio, ensuring personalized attention. In contrast, IIT Kharagpur’s B.Tech in Instrumentation Engineering also has strong faculty and a solid curriculum, but the campus experience and extracurricular activities might not match the intensity of IIT Delhi. Personally, I would lean towards IIT Delhi for the overall student experience and better opportunities for internships and projects, especially if you have an interest in research and networking. If you prefer a more specialized field without as much emphasis on research, IIT Kharagpur could be a good fit.

I would suggest the following preference order:

  • 1. IIT KGP Instrumentation (This gets priority because it's a circuital branch, leading to more opportunities!)
  • 2. IIT D Chemical Eng. (Chemical Engineering is also a solid choice, especially at IIT Delhi.)
  • 3. IIT D Eng Physics (Engineering Physics is known to be a tough branch in IITs, so it's placed after Chemical.)
  • 4. IIT Mandi CS (Remember, prioritize the college over the branch! It wouldn't be wise to leave IIT D just for CS.)

IIT KGP's Instrumentation Engineering is a solid choice. It's a circuit branch, and you'll find plenty of opportunities.

Consider this order:

  • 1. IIT KGP Instrumentation
  • 2. IIT Delhi Engineering Physics
  • 3. IIT Delhi Chemical Engineering

IIT Mandi CSE is also a good option, but stick with the above choices first!

IIT Delhi's B.Tech in Engineering Physics offers a well-structured curriculum and a strong placement cell, with internships paying between 30,000 to 75,000 per month, which is a great ROI for the fees charged. In contrast, IIT Kharagpur's B.Tech in Instrumentation Engineering has less detailed information available, but it likely also has good placements due to its reputation. However, IIT Delhi has a clearer advantage in terms of scholarships and campus life, making it a smarter financial choice overall. If you're inclined towards research and want a vibrant campus experience, go for IIT Delhi; but if your interests align more with instrumentation and you prefer a possibly more traditional engineering path, then IIT Kharagpur could also be a solid option.

Ultimately, the decision is yours. Only you can determine what suits you best. If you're open to options, here's my take:

  • IIT KGP Instrumentation Engineering >
  • IIT D Engineering Physics >
  • IIT D Chemical Engineering.

Instrumentation is an excellent branch, but it really depends on your interests and career goals!
