I think if you're considering B.Tech Energy Engineering in IIT Delhi versus B.Tech Electrical Engineering in IIT Kharagpur, financial aspects play a huge role. IIT Kharagpur has a higher placement package potential, with top offers reaching up to 4 Crore, compared to IIT Delhi's 1 Crore for Indian roles. However, IIT Delhi's tuition fees are lower, at about 1 lakh per semester, making it more financially manageable overall. The scholarships available at IIT Delhi can also ease the financial burden, while Kharagpur's opportunities seem less clear. If you want a strong ROI and can handle a more challenging environment, IIT Kharagpur might be the better bet. But if you're looking for a more affordable, less stressful option with good faculty support, IIT Delhi could be your choice.

Hi, Electrical Engineering at IIT Delhi focuses more on communication engineering and electromagnetics, while Electrical (Power and Automation) at IIT Kharagpur emphasizes electric drives and power engineering. Aside from these four courses, all Electrical Engineering students share the same learning environment.

The main difference arises during placements, as companies often confuse Electrical with Electronics and Communication, and Power and Automation with Electrical and Electronics Engineering. However, these two courses are quite similar. IIT Delhi's curriculum is designed to offer a good amount of flexibility, allowing students to pursue a minor in their area of interest.

Good luck!

IIT Delhi for B.Tech Energy Engineering and IIT Kharagpur for B.Tech Electrical Engineering both have solid placements, but IIT Kharagpur seems to have a slight edge in terms of campus placement opportunities and overall job packages. At IIT Kharagpur, students can expect companies like Ola and Bajaj to recruit from their campus with impressive packages, the highest being around 4 Crore. In contrast, while IIT Delhi has a good reputation too, the placement process starts later and the faculty engagement isn't as strong, which might impact learning.

If you're focused on maximizing your career outcomes and job prospects, I'd recommend IIT Kharagpur. However, if your passion lies in energy technology and you prefer a vibrant campus life, then IIT Delhi could be the right fit for you.

IIT Delhi is better for recreational activities and has decent placement opportunities.

  • If you're aiming for a high-salary job, consider Computer Science.
  • If you're passionate about core engineering and circuits, go for Electrical Engineering.
  • In Delhi, Electrical Engineering combines electronics with instrumentation and control, making it a strong option.

Lifestyle-wise, Delhi is more vibrant, but Kharagpur feels like home. You won’t want to leave!

  • Unlimited internet downloads from DC++.
  • Plenty of co-curricular activities.
  • Numerous societies to join.

You won't regret your choice! The placement records for CS at KGP are on par with those at Delhi and Bombay.

PS: I’m from KGP and specialize in Instrumentation.

It's a solid choice! IITs are the top institutes for engineering, and they definitely had a reason to introduce this course.

Here are a few points to consider:

  • Scope: Energy Engineering has a lot of potential in today's world.
  • Opportunities: With the growing focus on sustainability, this field is only going to expand.
  • Reputation: Being from IIT Delhi adds significant value to your degree.

If this is the best option available to you, it's definitely worth pursuing!
