IIT Delhi for B.Tech Electrical Engineering offers a strong reputation and high ROI with around 88% placements, but the fees are steep, making it a challenge for middle-class families. In contrast, IIT Kharagpur’s B.Tech Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering may have a lower student-faculty ratio and decent placements, but the specifics on scholarships and fees suggest it might not provide the same financial pressure as IIT Delhi. If you have a strong interest in electrical circuits and can manage the higher costs, IIT Delhi is a great choice, but if you're looking for better value for money and a unique field, IIT Kharagpur could be smarter financially. So, go for IIT Delhi if you're passionate about electrical engineering, but consider IIT Kharagpur for a balanced financial option.

Two students studied OENA at IIT KGP. One is now a successful analyst at CITIBANK after completing a dual degree in OENA + MBA from VGSOM while in college. The other is about to graduate from Harvard Business School.
What I’m saying is that you can find success in OENA, but it’s rare in the core field. Pursue OENA if you’re interested, but be prepared to switch to better opportunities. This is generally true for all branches at all colleges, except for CS.
IIT Delhi for B.Tech in Electrical Engineering definitely has a stronger placement record, with around 88% students getting placed through in-campus recruitment, and major tech firms like Google and Samsung actively seeking interns and graduates from the program. In contrast, IIT Kharagpur's Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering program, while unique, may not have the same level of industry demand, leading to potentially fewer lucrative job offers. If you’re focused on high-paying tech roles and broader job opportunities, IIT Delhi is the better choice. However, if you have a specific passion for maritime engineering and prefer a niche field, then IIT Kharagpur could be the way to go.
Ocean Engineering & Naval Architecture is a field where hands-on experience and practical knowledge matter more than just theoretical understanding (this is true for any branch, but especially for OENA).
A program at a prestigious institute like IIT KGP will equip you with the know-how and confidence you need to kickstart your career, provided you put in the effort. Opportunities are promising after graduation if you choose to pursue this field, but patience is key.
If this field doesn't excite you, consider other options. I always recommend reviewing the course structure!
