IIT Delhi's B.Tech in Electrical Engineering offers a strong placement record with around 88% students getting placed on-campus, which is impressive. The internship opportunities seem robust too, especially with big names in tech likely to recruit from such a prestigious institution. On the other hand, IIT Kharagpur's B.Tech in Instrumentation Engineering may not have as clear a placement figure, but it does attract companies like Google and Samsung, indicating a solid industry interest. However, IIT Delhi's higher fees could be a concern for some students. Ultimately, if you prioritize better placement prospects and a reputed faculty, IIT Delhi is the way to go. If you're more inclined towards a unique specialization like instrumentation and are okay with a potentially less competitive environment, IIT Kharagpur could be a good fit.

Provide some more details to get better answers:

  • Want a metro city? Big malls, theaters, McDonald's? Go for Delhi!
  • Doesn't really matter? Let's move on...
  • Prefer applying logic over solving complex differential equations? Want to know how Google search works more than how a transformer operates? Dreaming of very high packages? Choose CSE at IIT KGP!

IIT Delhi's B.Tech in Electrical Engineering offers a prestigious education with highly qualified faculty, but the high fees can be a concern for middle-class families, making it a heavier financial burden. In contrast, IIT Kharagpur's B.Tech in Instrumentation Engineering might have a more reasonable fee structure and good placement opportunities with companies like Google and Samsung, offering a solid ROI. While both institutions provide excellent education, IIT Kharagpur could be a smarter financial choice for those looking for value for money, especially if you're conscious about the cost of education. If you prioritize brand value and are ready to invest more, IIT Delhi could be the right fit, but for a balanced approach towards expenses and quality, IIT Kharagpur is worth considering.

IIT Delhi for B.Tech in Electrical Engineering offers a more rigorous curriculum and highly qualified faculty who encourage independent problem-solving, which is great for deepening your understanding. However, the campus life, while vibrant with clubs and events, has its drawbacks like smaller room sizes in hostels. On the other hand, IIT Kharagpur's B.Tech in Instrumentation Engineering might provide a more relaxed teaching approach and a decent student-faculty ratio, but the faculty quality and the overall learning experience seem to lag behind.

Plus, IIT Delhi has an impressive placement record with top tech companies, while Kharagpur's placements, though good, aren't as competitive. Personally, I'd recommend IIT Delhi for its academic rigor and better placement opportunities, especially if you're serious about a strong career in engineering. But if you prefer a more laid-back approach and a good balance between life and studies, IIT Kharagpur could be a good fit.

Being a metro, IIT Delhi is better for recreational activities and has decent placement opportunities.

Now, comparing CS and Electrical:

  • If you want a very high-salary job, go for CS.
  • If you're interested in core engineering and circuits, prefer Electrical.

In Delhi, Electrical combines electronics, instrumentation, and control, making it a strong option.

Lifestyle-wise, Delhi is great, but Kharagpur feels like home. You won't want to leave!

  • Unlimited internet downloads from DC++
  • Tons of co-curricular activities
  • Many societies

You won't regret your choice! The placement record for CS at KGP is on par with Delhi and Bombay.

PS: I'm from KGP and studying Instrumentation.
