Both IIT Delhi for B.Tech in Electrical Engineering and IIT Kharagpur for B.Tech in Industrial Engineering offer unique experiences. IIT Delhi has a strong faculty and a rigorous curriculum that encourages independent problem-solving, but the campus life can feel a bit cramped due to smaller rooms. In contrast, IIT Kharagpur might have a more relaxed atmosphere with a diverse range of extracurricular activities, though the teaching quality is reported to be less impressive.

If you’re passionate about electrical engineering and prefer a more competitive environment, IIT Delhi would be the better choice. However, if you value campus life and want to explore industrial engineering in a slightly more laid-back setting, IIT Kharagpur could be a great fit. Personally, I’d lean towards IIT Delhi for its reputation and focus on core engineering subjects.

More than just deciding what’s better, you need to figure out what resonates with you. IITs have an international level of accreditation.

  • B.Tech Electrical Engineering students can pursue M.Tech in Computer Science, while the reverse is not usually possible in most universities.
  • All Non-Computer Engineering students study some level of computer concepts.
  • Strictly speaking, Electrical Engineering includes computer learning, but not the other way around.

So, choose based on your future plans, if you have any. Good luck and cheers!

Honestly, if you're leaning towards placements and internships, IIT Delhi for B.Tech in Electrical Engineering might have the edge. It boasts impressive stats with around 88% of students getting placed, and the faculty is highly qualified, which translates to better learning and problem-solving skills. On the flip side, IIT Kharagpur's B.Tech in Industrial Engineering has a decent reputation, but the faculty and teaching methods seem to be lacking compared to IIT Delhi. With top companies like Google and Samsung recruiting from IIT Delhi, if your goal is a high-paying job right after graduation, I'd recommend going with IIT Delhi. However, if you have a strong affinity for industrial engineering and the campus vibe at Kharagpur resonates with you, it could still be a great choice.

IIT Delhi for B.Tech in Electrical Engineering offers a prestigious degree but comes with high fees that can be a burden for middle-class families, while IIT Kharagpur’s B.Tech in Industrial Engineering might be more affordable. The ROI at IIT Delhi can be significant due to its strong placement record, but the intense competition and higher costs could offset that for some. IIT Kharagpur has a slightly better student-faculty ratio and a more diverse set of companies visiting for placements, which may enhance the learning experience. If you’re looking for a more balanced cost-to-value ratio, IIT Kharagpur could be the smarter financial choice, while those focused on elite placements and are willing to invest more may prefer IIT Delhi.
