It ultimately comes down to two choices:

  • From the perspective of placements: If you have an interest in programming or are considering higher technical studies (MS) in the CS field, choosing B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering at IIT Delhi is the best option, hands down.
  • From the perspective of getting a tag: IIT Kharagpur is preferable if you're interested in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering. Currently, India doesn’t have much to offer in this field. So, if you aspire to pursue higher studies in metallurgy or want the IIT tag for your resume, IIT KGP is the way to go. This tag can be beneficial for MBA placements at top-tier colleges, starting a venture (primarily for funding), or simply for social status among peers.

Note: While NIT Trichy may not have the same level of recognition as IIT KGP, it still holds its own and ranks just after the top 7 IITs for those looking to pursue an MBA at prestigious institutions.
