IIT Delhi's B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering offers a more robust curriculum focused on current tech trends like AI/ML, along with strong internship opportunities from giants like Amazon and Google, which can be a game-changer for placements. In contrast, IIT Kharagpur's B.Tech + M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering has a solid reputation but may not match the immediate demand and salary prospects of computer science graduates, especially in today’s tech-driven market. While both colleges have excellent faculties and vibrant campus lives, IIT Delhi’s edge in tech placements is hard to ignore. If you're passionate about cutting-edge technology and want to secure a high-paying job post-graduation, IIT Delhi is the way to go; otherwise, IIT Kharagpur is a great choice for those who are more inclined towards mechanical engineering and research.

I am currently pursuing M.Tech in CSE at IIT KGP (1st year student). The most important aspect I've noticed about placements is that companies do visit the campus. Yes, there was a recession effect, but IIT is IIT!

So, what matters most is the required skills. Due to the recession, companies have decreased the number of hirings, but there are still enough opportunities for everyone to get placed.

Instead of fixating on placement stats, we should invest our time in health and skill development.

And always follow your passion! IIT is a place that can give wings to your dreams, so seize every opportunity and make the most of every moment as an IITIAN.

Greetings to all the readers!

IIT Delhi's B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering generally offers better placements compared to IIT Kharagpur's B.Tech + M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, primarily due to the booming tech industry and higher demand for computer science graduates. Companies like Amazon and Google actively recruit from IIT Delhi, providing lucrative internships and job offers, while the mechanical engineering field, though solid, faces more competition and varied demand. The high CGPA and soft skills at IIT Delhi also significantly enhance job prospects. If you're leaning towards tech and innovation, IIT Delhi is the way to go; however, if you're passionate about mechanical engineering and its applications, IIT Kharagpur still holds its ground with good opportunities.

IIT Delhi's B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering offers a cutting-edge curriculum and abundant internship opportunities with top tech companies like Amazon and Google, making it an attractive option despite the higher fees of around 20 lakhs. Meanwhile, IIT Kharagpur's B.Tech + M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering provides a solid foundation with a well-rounded curriculum, but it may not have the same level of high-profile placements as IIT Delhi, especially in tech fields. In terms of ROI, IIT Delhi likely edges ahead due to the strong demand for CS graduates, while IIT Kharagpur might be better for those interested in a more traditional engineering path. If you're aiming for a lucrative tech career, go for IIT Delhi; if you prefer a broad engineering experience with a focus on mechanical applications, IIT Kharagpur is a solid choice.
