If you're asking about the procedure, I can't help with that. But if you're wondering what to do after securing a seat, focus on working hard in your first year! Naval Architecture is a solid branch with plenty of opportunities. Once you get a grip on your courses, you'll have many chances to pursue minors/electives in other departments and engage in co-curricular activities as well. Keep in mind that most B.Tech graduates don't typically opt for core jobs anyway.

Two students studied OENA at IIT KGP. One is a successful analyst at CITIBANK after completing a dual degree in OENA + MBA from VGSOM while in college. The other is about to graduate from Harvard Business School.

What I’m trying to convey is that you can find success in OENA, but it’s rare in the core field. Pursue OENA if you’re interested, but be prepared to switch to better opportunities. This is generally true for all branches at all colleges, except for CS.

Ocean Engineering & Naval Architecture is a field where practical knowledge and experience matter more than theoretical understanding (this applies to other branches too, but especially OENA).

A program at a prestigious institute like IIT KGP will equip you with the necessary skills and confidence (assuming you put in the effort) to kickstart your career.

Opportunities are promising after graduation if you choose to stay in this field, but patience is key.

If this field doesn't excite you, consider other options. I always suggest reviewing the course structure!

IIT Delhi definitely stands out for its B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering, especially with a strong curriculum focused on AI/ML and abundant internship opportunities from top companies like Amazon and Google. The faculty is highly qualified and genuinely supportive, creating a rich learning environment. On the other hand, IIT Kharagpur’s B.Tech in Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering has a unique appeal if you're passionate about marine engineering, but the campus life may not be as vibrant as IIT Delhi's, which is packed with extracurriculars and fests. If you're leaning towards a tech career with a broad scope, I'd recommend IIT Delhi for its overall student experience and job prospects; however, if you have a strong interest in naval engineering, IIT Kharagpur could be the right fit for you.

IIT Delhi's B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering has a higher fee structure, around 20 lakhs, but it offers exceptional internship opportunities with top companies and a strong curriculum focused on real-world applications, making it a solid investment. In contrast, IIT Kharagpur's Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering program may have a lower fee, but it lacks the same level of industry connections and high-profile internships. For those prioritizing immediate job prospects and ROI, IIT Delhi is the smarter choice, especially if you're passionate about tech and AI. However, if you're drawn to marine engineering and can handle a potentially slower job market, IIT Kharagpur could be worth considering.
