I was somewhat weak in Maths but excelled in Computers and Physics. After spending three years in the CSE department at IIT Guwahati, I believe these points are crucial in making your decision:

• Every field in engineering, including computer science, requires a certain level of mathematics. Computer Science at IIT involves a significant amount of math that will be quite different from what you've learned so far, so don’t shy away from it!
• Computer Science demands a lot of effort. Don’t assume you’ll land a job at Google, FB, or Microsoft or get into Stanford for your MS without putting in the work.
• Have you explored other options for CSE, like BITS Pilani and IIIT Hyderabad?
• It’s true that job opportunities in CSE are generally better than in Mechanical Engineering. If you're uncertain about your interests, it might be wiser to take the safer route.
• A senior from Mechanical Engineering at Kharagpur advised preferring CSE over Mechanical.
