NIT Trichy B.Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering offers a strong curriculum and supportive faculty, which is great, but the placement scene took a hit recently with fewer companies visiting, despite an average package of 14-15 LPA. In contrast, Jadavpur University's BE in Production Engineering has a robust placement record with around 250 companies, including top names like Google and Microsoft, making it an attractive option for job seekers. While both colleges provide a good campus life, Jadavpur seems to have more active clubs and events, enhancing the overall student experience. Personally, I'd pick Jadavpur University if I'm aiming for better placement opportunities and a vibrant campus life, while NIT Trichy is great for those who prefer a strong foundational curriculum with a focus on ECE.

The QS World University Rankings and NIRF might say “none” when asked this question. But I have a different perspective.

Jadavpur University (JU) is quite impressive and can be compared to the top NITs. Its regional admission test and lower budget speak volumes about its quality.

That said, I do think NIT Trichy, Surathkal, Allahabad, and Warangal have an edge over JU, though not by a large margin. All five institutions (the four NITs and JU) fall into a similar bracket—below the established IITs but above every other college, including DTU and NSIT. However, these four NITs do have a slight advantage over JU.

Here’s to hoping we bridge that gap soon!
