Based on my research, NIT Trichy generally offers better placement opportunities compared to Jadavpur University for B.Tech in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. NIT Trichy has a strong reputation among tech giants and consistently attracts FANG companies for campus placements, which leads to higher average packages. In contrast, while Jadavpur University provides a specialized BE in Power Engineering, the overall placement statistics aren't as competitive. If you're looking for broader job prospects and higher packages, NIT Trichy would be the better choice, but if you're passionate about power engineering specifically, Jadavpur can still offer valuable experiences.

NIT Trichy offers a solid B.Tech in Electrical and Electronics Engineering with a curriculum that connects well to real-world problems and strong placement opportunities, especially with tech giants often recruiting from campus. However, the faculty interaction seems a bit lacking, which might affect your learning experience. On the other hand, Jadavpur University’s BE in Power Engineering might not have as much buzz in terms of placements, but it is known for a vibrant campus life with plenty of cultural and technical events. Personally, I would lean towards NIT Trichy for its better placement prospects and practical approach, but if you value a lively campus environment and are passionate about power engineering, Jadavpur University could be a great fit.

I completely agree with the previous thoughts and want to elaborate on them. Choosing Power Engineering can feel like being in a top-tier university, but there are significant trade-offs. Here are some key points to consider:

  • Faculty vs. Opportunities: While you will have access to some excellent faculty at Jadavpur University, you might miss out on participating in all-India level competitions.
  • GATE Rankings: You could achieve an AIR 1-100 in GATE after your B.E., but many PSUs may not consider you for interviews, leaving you out of the field despite your accomplishments.
  • Campus Placements: Most core companies tend to prefer Mechanical and Electrical graduates during campus placements.
  • Higher Studies: In recent batches, IIT Kanpur has not allowed admission for M.Tech in Power Engineering, even for students with strong GATE ranks. This trend has worsened since 2013, with IIT Kharagpur and IIT Delhi also not accepting Power Engineering candidates for M.Tech. NITs have followed suit as well.

In summary, while Jadavpur University is a great institution, I would suggest considering BIT Sindri. Although it may not match Jadavpur University in terms of research and teaching, your hard work there could lead to better opportunities in the long run.

If you're getting ETCE in Jadavpur University, I suggest you wait and hope for an upgrade to CSE in the subsequent rounds. If you do get CSE, take it over the others any day! Its average placement is likely double that of NIT Trichy.

If you end up with only ETCE in JU, then Electrical in NIT Trichy is the better choice. Placement-wise, they may be similar, but the NIT tag will give you an edge.

Don't get me wrong; I have immense respect for IIEST, but their placement stats seem a bit off. Plus, I've heard their infrastructure isn't quite up to par. This might change in 4-5 years with their new INI status, but you can't take risks with your future.

Peer group-wise, NIT Trichy will have students from all over India, while JU will have a predominantly Bengali background. IIEST will have students from West Bengal and other states due to its quota system. You'll likely learn more about different cultures at NIT Trichy, which will help develop your personality.

As for faculty, I can't provide much insight there.

NIT Trichy’s B.Tech in Electrical and Electronics Engineering offers strong placement opportunities with tech giants, making it a solid investment considering the fees of around 60,000 per semester plus hostel costs. Scholarships are available for economically weaker students, which can significantly reduce the financial burden. Jadavpur University’s BE in Power Engineering may have a lower fee structure, but the placement scenario isn’t as robust as NIT Trichy's, which could affect ROI. So, if you're looking for better job prospects and a comprehensive campus experience, NIT Trichy is the smarter financial choice; however, if you prefer a more affordable option and are okay with potentially lower placements, Jadavpur University could work for you.
