Jadavpur University is undoubtedly a great choice for a B.Tech degree. However, I would recommend opting for NIT Trichy. Here are my reasons:

  • NIT Trichy has a stronger brand value across India and even internationally. Many in the western and southern parts of India may not view JU as being on the same level as NIT Trichy.
  • Since your home state is West Bengal, being away from home will provide you with numerous learning opportunities. You'll gain experiences that go beyond academics, such as managing your life and making decisions independently. If you can handle being away from home, NIT Trichy is the way to go!
  • NIT Trichy attracts students from all over India, which is not the case with JU. You'll have the chance to interact with peers from Kashmir, learn south Indian languages, and discover the unique culture of Nagaland. You’ll even find out why Gujaratis name their snacks "atom bombs"! This diversity is not something JU offers.

My assumption here is that you’re considering the same branch at both institutions. If that’s not the case, choose the institute that offers you the better branch.

All the best :)

NIT Trichy for B.Tech in Electrical and Electronics Engineering generally has a strong reputation for placements, with many tech giants recruiting directly from the campus, which significantly enhances job prospects and average packages. In contrast, Jadavpur University’s Information Technology program also offers decent placement opportunities, but the focus seems to be more on internships and research projects that might not guarantee as many high-paying placements as NIT Trichy. If you’re looking for a more industry-oriented approach with better job outcomes, go for NIT Trichy. However, if you have a passion for IT and prefer a research-centric environment, Jadavpur could be a good fit, but be prepared for a tougher job market.

If you're getting ETCE in Jadavpur, I suggest you wait and hope for an upgrade to CSE in the further rounds. If you do end up with CSE, take it over the others any day! Its average placement is probably double that of NIT Trichy.

If you're only getting ETCE in JU, then Electrical in NIT Trichy is the better choice. Placement-wise, they may be similar, but the NIT tag will tip the balance in its favor.

Don't get me wrong; I have immense respect for IIEST, but the placement stats look a bit rusty. Plus, I've heard that the infrastructure isn't up to the mark. That might change in 4-5 years with its new INI status, but you can't be sure. It's best not to take any risks.

Regarding the peer group, NIT Trichy will have students from all over India, while JU will have a predominantly Bengali background. IIEST will have students from West Bengal and other states due to its quota system. So, you might get to learn about different cultures in NIT Trichy, which can help develop your personality.

As for faculty, I have no clue about that area.

NIT Trichy for B.Tech in Electrical and Electronics Engineering offers a solid ROI with low fees around Rs.60,000 per semester and good scholarship options for economically disadvantaged students, which can make education nearly free for some. The campus has a lively atmosphere, with great placement opportunities from top tech companies, enhancing its value. Jadavpur University’s Information Technology program is also reputable but may not have the same level of industry connections or placement rates as NIT Trichy. If you want a more hands-on experience with practical applications and better job prospects, definitely go for NIT Trichy; however, if you have a strong interest in IT and prefer a different learning environment, Jadavpur could still be a good choice.

NIT Trichy’s B.Tech in Electrical and Electronics Engineering offers a solid curriculum with practical labs that connect theory to real-world problems, but the faculty-student interaction seems lacking, which could affect your learning experience. In contrast, Jadavpur University’s Information Technology program might provide a more engaging environment, given its reputation for a vibrant campus life and active student participation in cultural and technical events.

While NIT Trichy has better placement opportunities with tech giants, Jadavpur’s emphasis on student engagement and diverse activities can enhance your overall experience. If you prioritize a robust job placement network, go for NIT Trichy; if you want a lively campus life with a focus on all-rounded development, Jadavpur University is the way to go.
