Should I go for B.Tech Electrical and Electronics Engineering in NIT Trichy or BE Mechanical Engineering in Jadavpur University?

If you're getting ETCE in Jadavpur, I recommend waiting and hoping for an upgrade to CSE in the next rounds. If you do get CSE, take it without hesitation! The average placement for CSE is likely double that of NIT Trichy.

If you only get ETCE in JU, then Electrical in NIT Trichy is the better choice. Placement-wise, they may be similar, but the NIT tag will give you an edge.

I have great respect for IIEST, but their placement stats seem a bit off. Plus, I've heard the infrastructure isn't quite up to par. This might change in 4-5 years with its new INI status, but that's uncertain. It's best to avoid risks.

Regarding the peer group, NIT Trichy will have students from all over India, while JU will mostly have students from a predominantly Bengali background. IIEST will have students from West Bengal and other states due to its quota system. You'll get to learn about different cultures at NIT Trichy, which can help develop your personality.

• Since your home state is West Bengal, studying away from home will provide you with numerous learning opportunities and experiences. You'll not only focus on academics but also learn to manage life, make decisions, and become more independent. If you’re not prone to homesickness, NIT Trichy is the way to go.
• NIT Trichy attracts students from all over India, which is not the case with JU. You’ll have the chance to interact with peers from Kashmir and pick up some South Indian languages. You’ll also gain insights into why Gujaratis name their snacks "atom bombs" and explore the culture of Nagaland. This diversity is less pronounced at JU.

My assumption in this comparison is that you’re considering the same branch at both colleges. If that’s not the case, then choose the institute that offers you the better branch.
